That's not the way I heard it.
Tex Schramn, (Cowboys GM, Texas alumni) wanted the Dallas fans to get to see all the different colors of the visiting teams. With Dallas wearing white, visiting teams wore their home outfits and the home fans had more colors from week to week.
Tex Schramm and the early Dallas organization were responsible for many of the innovations we take for granted currently. Anyone unfamiliar should research the innovations.

I simply do not understand how anyone who goes 8 OT's with GT nerds can be in a championship game.
Aw well, we'll just slap on our whites and bring that trophy back to Texas.

Schramm was adamantly against instant replay. All his reasons for hating it turned out to be exactly right ... but we seem to like it anyway I guess.

I got the longest road winning streak in college football. And more than that, a team that’s pissed off about the game in October.
We’ll see how Kirby’s genius (and your schizophrenic QB) holds up to that.
