By the way, I want to reiterate that I don't particularly like threads like this nor do I necessarily agree with the premise of this thread.

They dont seem to understand, the west is tough you dont get many years where you can just roll up and win.

Whatever makes you feel better, I guess. Is it tougher than the East. Yes, by miles right now. But Georgia did play the 6th hardest schedule in the nation last year and finished #2 in the country, so let's not pretend we finished that way because we play in the East.

No. You have failed to prove that lsu wasn’t lucky to get a shot after losing a game. You have proven that usc didn’t get lucky and ou did though.

Two teams typically. Alabama and occasionally Auburn.
Some tough teams? yeah, probably. But not great teams like 2011 and some years like that.

LSU and State tend to be more physical teams than the east(minus UGA, of course) as of late. The grind of the west schedule lately and the injuries that are amassed from the sheer physicality is not just not matched in the east at the moment. Now it has not always been like this and it will not always be either. I do remember when the east had more physical teams. UT and UF will eventually rise again and this will change.

Well we did win our conference with one of the toughest schedules in the country that year. We were fortunate enough that our loss happen early enough for us to overcome

That’s an odd question from a lsu guy, but I do think we would have beaten Bama at least once with 4 q’s of hurts.

This is gold.

FWIW...I always liked Georgia and would bet most LSU fans would pull for y’all.

WTF is wrong with y’all?

But you couldn’t even beat a weak east team.

I don't remember thinking State was a physical team, but y'all play them, so you would probably know better.

However, Florida is a physical team and Tennessee normally is. South Carolina can be, too.

But, we aren't comparing the two conferences. I admit the west is superior to the east. I am arguing that a weak schedule was not why Georgia had a good year last year.

There is never going to be another scenario like it was in 2011 where you had 1,2 and 3 from one division. But right now you have the overall best team in the country and most consistent in Alabama and yes they are head and shoulders above everyone, but it wouldnt matter what division they were in they would be just as good.

Then you have 3 teams in Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State that are all top 10-20 teams usually.

Now include Arkansas, Texas A&M and Ole Miss on any given year and 1 of them creeps in the top 25.

We could very well finish the worst in the west this year and I'm pretty sure that would still be good enough to be no worst than 2nd in the east

Eh. Let's face it. Ole Miss, Arky, LSU, Auburn A&M...all the fan bases regular put up troll threads. The only reason our fans threads are sticking out so much is because we typically don't start threads of any kind, much less troll threads.

And we got rid of our newer fans that were so bad, so we should get a little credit for that!

Uga had a good year last year because UGA was fricking good.
Beating Notre Dame on the road was what got the ball rolling for them last year.

What people are saying is that with the talent uga has it should be a cake walk to the championship game.

I dont think it would be the case if uga was in the west and say Auburn was in the east

only thing Georgia owns right now is the choke job

That's the part those frickers don't want to talk about.

Alabama was flailing around all over the frickin place and kirby smart didn't have it in the pants to carpe diem. That bobbleleaded captain kangaroo looking dipshit couldn't protect a double digit lead against a team that was falling to frickin pieces before our very eyes.

And we're supposed to buy kirby as a kingslayer? Nope, sell that shite to somebody who doesn't know better.

That might as well have been mark richt coaching that game. Kirby closes in big games about as well.

Nothing's changed at georgia. Choking and not finishing is in the carpet fibers and wallpaper.

This isn't "bama and georgia's conference". This is alabama's conference and it always has been.

We beat a weak sec team twice that year. And the last time was in their home state. Guess rematches dont always work

I think it was 1,2 and 5, but your point is well taken, and correct.

But just a few years ago you had Ole Miss, MState, LSU, Auburn and Alabama with excellent teams. MState was ranked #1 for a couple of weeks and Ole Miss finished with 10-11 wins.

Honest to goodness, LSU is not what they were a few years ago, and past Auburn and Alabama who is anywhere near the level of those teams I mentioned?

Not A&M. Not Ole Miss. Not Arky. MState is okay, but not great. They certainly were never in contention of being ranked #1 last season.
If we were in the West I would, right now going into this season...only be concerned with Alabama and Auburn and MAYBE LSU. (I actually think you guys have a chance to be very good this coming year if Burrows can come through for you) Again. We are not comparing you to the east...but arguing that the west is extremely tough. It just isn't, right now. Good? Yes. But people are acting like it was 2011 right now, and it 2011 was a long time ago.

Agree 100%. That was a key to the team believing they could be good.

Agree again. (The SEC Championship game, that is)

It wouldn't be a cake walk because of Alabama, though. I think we will beat LSU, and past LSU.....and we play Auburn every year anyway.

Usc was #1 before the game and they smacked Michigan around in the rose bowl, but that’s only part of it. The loss to 5 loss uf could have eliminated y’all, but y’all got lucky enough to play on.

We were 8-4 and ranked in #15 in the BCS.
