Who has beaten Bama more times at their home stadium
LSU in Baton Rouge, or Tennessee in Knoxville?
Who has played a more competitive series vs Alabama over time?
LSU or Tennessee?

Well that's where you'd be wrong because the entire state has an impact on the Steel Industry. Thus, the name Iron Bowl is still relevant.
Not nearly as much as Birmingham. At the height of its relevancy, Birmingham produced 40% of the nation's steel. While there were various other hot spots in north Alabama where iron and steel was mined, Birmingham was the central hub. All roads led to B-ham in that regard.
Aside from north-central Alabama, the rest of the state had very little to do with the iron and steel industry. Coal was the biggest industry for the vast majority of the state.

Uh, huh.
Y'all just keep screaming in each other's faces "I hate Bama/Tennessee!!!" for the whole SEC (which apparently has collectively missed the point) to hear. Do it enough times and eventually your faces will meet and the shouts become a whisper, which becomes a passionate make-out session. You will date for a while and exchange love letters talking about how competitive your rivalry is and how you're proud to call each other rivals.

Sounds totally hot.

No shite. But lets ignore the fact that North and Central Alabama were involved in the industry, and hell even Mobile is now. Thus, the name is still relevant.

I have an incredibly turgid member right now.

Bottom line. Would the game be referred to as the Iron Bowl if it was played in Montgomery all those years?

Well it wasn't. The Third Saturday played on the Fourth Saturday makes about as much sense as the LA Lakers or the Utah Jazz...or the Orange Bowl committee moving the game to Omaha and keeping the name.

Anyone who knows the history of the rivalry knows why it is called the Iron Bowl. Quit being intellectually dishonest. The game got its name because of the mines that were literally a stone's throw away from the stadium at the time. The game didn't get its nickname until the series was renewed in Birmingham in the 1940s which, coincidentally, happened to be at a time when Birmingham was the leading producer of iron and steel in the United States.

Ditto for the Iron Bowl being played in Tuscaloosa and Auburn - two cities that have NOTHING to do with the iron ore industry.

So...if the game was played on the Fourth Saturday of October all those years...we should dump the name if it was played on the 3rd a few years? I mean, it wasn't..

I know the history of the game. I grew up in Alabama as an Auburn fan.

But the STATE does...motherfrick, how dumb are you?
UT and OU don't boarder the Red River...but somehow it makes sense because both schools represent the STATE.
