The Old Monk (on Henderson) isn't too far for a cab and has a very laid-back vibe with a good selection of beer. They have a patio, good pub food and it isn't douchey. It's where I got to meet up with friends when I'm in town.

my area of expertise in dallas is around the old Cotton Bowl.
The only decision there is whether you should pack a 9mm or a .45

I'm staying in Bedford (just south of DFW) and suggestions in Ft. Worth or the areas between Dallas & Ft. Worth? Thanks!

We are staying in Grapevine, are there any good bars in that area?

I went to where JFK was shot. Very unique thing to go and see. Everything is closer together in person than it is on videos. They also have a museum on the sixth floor where JFK was supposedly shot from.

Go to Mckinnny. Meet random dude at the bar that is hitting on one of the girls you are with and end up at a sketchy underground mexican after hours club drinking till dawn. at least that's what I do before games in dallas. Just beware the old mexican lady at the door she can be a real bitch if your up moving around to much by the door.

Are there a lot of bars around the stadium?
Humperdinks, Studers, Sherlock's Pub close to the Stadium.

There's a new microbrewery down there and the area is experiencing a bit of a comeback, especially among hipster types. It will be cool again in a couple years I predict.
Deep Ellum Brewing Company. They have tours most Saturdays from 12-3 and sometimes live music in their newly built beer garden area.
Deep Ellum is reviving somewhat and there are a few great places to eat. Angry Dog and the original Twisted Root have great burgers and Cane Rosso may have the best pizza in Dallas; plus there are many other restaurants in the general area.

Dallas Observer
You can pretty much find everything on the above site.
I've been in the bar/nightclub business in Dallas since '94. Here would be my top recommendations at different areas in downtown.
Knox/Henderson area
Food/Drinks: Victor Tangos, Fireside, Hacienda on Henderson, Old Monk, The Porch.
Sports bar - closest thing would be Jakes or The Porch
Lounge/Club: The Dram, Rio Room
Mckinney Ave :
Food/Drinks - Sfuzzi (food is Ok but the scenery is great), Standard Pour, Idle Rich Pub
Sports bar - MAT
Lounge/Club - Avenu, Hotel ZaZa pool(tons of hot chicks here, but def dress up)
Main St area
Food/Drinks - Iron Cactus, Ravenna, Charlie Palmers inside Hotel Joule
Sports Bar - 10, One Eyed Penguin
Lounge/Club - Cameo (thursday nights is a must), Plush, Empire Rock Bar
STRIP CLUB - Baby Doll's. Over 100 girls nightly. Crazy in there....
DO NOT go to lower greenville or Deep Ellum. Not what it used to be and it is a ghost town down there now.

Top Golf. There are a few locations in the area. https://topgolf.com/dallas/
Hit up downtown Fort Worth. Much better area for drinking, bar hopping, and eating proximity wise. I always have a blast there. And there are nice places to eat there like Texas De Brazil.

The Lodge is the classiest strip club in town, if you like your strip clubs classy that is. girls are top shelf there.

Oh I wasn't saying your choice wasn't good, just throwing in my two cents. Spot on with Sfuzzi though, food not great, scenery the best in Dallas.
Posted on 7/19/12 at 5:40 pm to Latarian
No worries. I just don't like the Lodge very much.
