Pick'em

I'm ranked #32 and you can see all my picks this year if you'd like.

I agree, but they did everything right, theoretically: creamed LSU, won out.

It wouldn't have been totally shocking for them to put in FSU because of records.

With 4 teams there wasn't much guess work. With the 12 teams now, there are multiple bad picks this year.

If you say so. Truthfully, I have no idea who you are other than you say stupid shite, upvote yourself and you've been melting since you found out Georgia might have to play Alabama again.

I wish they’d cook up their own modernized BCS analogue instead tbh.

Polls are gay and lame and also gay.

Have one-half of the metric measure team power ratings like FPI, S+, etc. and the other half measure strength of record or something. Then they can mix in their own tiebreakers for head-to-head if it’s close.

Luckily most years haven’t been complicated enough to pose a problem for the old BCS, so it’s not really a big deal.

FPI

It's influenced by human inputs, I don't put much into it as a result.

FEI and SP+ are decent, but they are just power rankings. SOR isn't really a great metric either.

The way I ranked teams when I did that stuff was it was partly based on the teams individual power score, and the rest was based on more on the power of the teams they played. SoS was not used as a stat, it is baked in.

So as far as points goes, I would take the power rating of each opponent with 100 being the best possible. If you beat that opponent, you would gain that many points. If you lost to that opponent, it was 100 - the power of the school. So if you lose to a team with 100 power rating, it was 0 points. If you beat such a team, you gain 100 points. Beat a team with an 80 power rating, you gain 80. If you lose to them, you lost 20.

I counted FCS teams as a 0 power team, so you could never benefit from playing them, but you could lose 100 if you lost to them. They weren't counted at all for the purpose of determining team power.

SoS is automatically applied in this manner, but you can express it separately.

I think that was 70% of my final ranking and the other 30% was the teams own power score. It's been almost 20 years, so I don't remember the exact numbers.

It works well.

I thought they didn't have access to the entire BCS computers that this is just part of the system or code. If that's the case they are clearly splitting the baby and they need to quit that.
