You could have just hired Dabo, he doesn't use the portal anyways

If coaches can do it, players should be able to do it as well.

Coaches (or the school that's gaining them) usually have to pay a penalty to change jobs before their contract ends. Players don't even have to do that.

Unchecked capitalism

People earning what they're worth isn't unchecked capitalism. Unchecked capitalism would be no wage floors, worker exploitation, unchecked resource depletion, etc. This is paying a price as determined by the market. This is just capitalism.

Sorsby isn't making TTU pay him $5m. They believe that's what he's worth.

The NFL has rules. It’s regulated.

The NFL does not regulate players ability to monetize their NIL.

They also don't mitigate how much a player can make on a contract after their rookie contract. They just control how much teams can spend.

Here's the thing: they're not earning what they're worth. Their worth is artificial because it's a bidding war between multi-millionaires who want to see their schools win at all costs.

Sir with respect, no politician is going to stand Infront of the players making dollars! Check out your roster. It's very clear.

Many NFL teams probably don't think Dak Prescott is worth $240m but the Dallas Cowboys certainly do and so that's what he's paid. This is just how sports contracts work. X amount of supply and a lot of teams trying to get a piece of X.

They just need to put a limit on the number of transfers a player can make. Some of these guys are on their 4th or 5th stop. It should be that you can make one transfer without sitting out a year. Use it wisely.

But why? Just because? Or is it because it inconveniences you?

Seems like you just want to make a rule just make one?

What if a student wanted to change schools every year? Should we put an end to that as well?

Option 2 is that fans get fed up enough to stop going to games, paying for ESPN and contributing to NIL.

The teams who have money that haven’t won a natty in a long long time aren’t going to stop until they pay for one.

Unchecked capitalism, much like unchecked freedom, is a bad thing. There needs to be structure and there needs to be safeguards. We don't have either of those things currently.

I just like to say too much of anything is a bad thing. It’s the only generalist statement that is undefeated.

CFB is certainly living in a land of excess at the moment. You look at some of these schools where they have 50+ departures to the portal (Iowa state) & that is just not sustainable for the league.

I think, despite it really hurting so much of the traditional appeal of CFB — most SEC teams and larger brands will be able to navigate through it. But for more middling schools it’s just absolutely brutal if they have to make a coaching change.

What do you have against people making what someone values them at?

In pretty much every profession, there are penalties for leaving to go to the competition, there are non competes signed as well.

Why the hell should college athletes be above that?
