Nothing to base it on particularly, but 3 seems like a window an AD would use to evaluate a coach now with the portal in place.

Maybe 3 to 5. But coaches at big time programs are going to be on the hot sear if they don’t start delivering by the third year.

Using that time frame is a good way to do it since the new transfer rule change and NIL together is what helped mid teams like Ole Miss, Missouri, and Tennessee. This is a good starting point for everyone with that new set up. The old set up gave to the powerhouse teams. The powerhouse team are still doing great but it brought new teams that were never going to compete/make playoffs.

While true for Ole Miss and Missouri, Prison Orange has 6 national titles. They would have eventually gotten their crap together, but maybe not as fast as with NIL. I would stipulate to that.

We are in agreement about the three year timeframe though.

Yeah, its called being a prisoner of the moment. A common affliction facing inferior football programs. But, if you want to know the future, best to study what came before it.

You’ve convinced me. UGA is far and away the best in the current era.

Without a doubt we are.

In my view, the inferiors harp on days gone by. Those performing well right now do not.

And right now, OP's stats are correct and show the current state of SEC football. That will change next year as I don't expect Tennessee to get to 10 wins this year.

But right now? He is correct.

Actually, you best study up on "retrospective determinism"
