You can’t see the leg in the behind the end zone picture but it’s evident from the other angle his calf is down.

I didn't see the play yesterday but I went to YouTube with all intents of defending Bama because I hate Texas. But being as objective as possible it looks like his leg is on the ground in this screenshot I took from the video. There's no calf bulge on the lateral side of his lower leg because it's being flattened on the ground.

Just admit you got away with one

Yeah but can you prove it? Like scientifically?

Alabama privilege.

Why do we still discuss this? Everyone knows it exists, even Bama fans although they hesitate to admit it.

unless he’s wearing some smart socks that trigger when there is contact I just can’t buy it. The picture is not scientific enough for me.

Nvm the fact that this looks like a zoomed in picture from an iPhone4, but the fact there is a bunch of shadow beneath the leg at like 1pm in the day generally means it’s not in contact with the ground

How do we know Bryce Young exists? This could all be an illusion.

René Descartes had it right.

The problem there is the black line below his calf a shadow like the one for the upper leg.

It’s literally showing there is space between his leg and the ground I appreciate this

Anything above the foot. His lower calf is clearly down.

As has been explained, once Bryce is down that's a safety, play is over and ball is dead. Any personal foul that occurs after the play is over would be enforced on the kickoff.

No, I'm pretty sure if it was a personal foul, it's 15 yards and automatic 1st down. You are thinking of a turnover, where if the penalty happens after the turnover, it doesn't negate everything before the turnover. But even then a QB can throw an interception, but get a roughing the passer call and the interception won't count. Roughing the kicker, same kind of thing.

At any rate, I'll accept what the other guy said. That since the whistle didn't blow, it would negate the late hit. And they could have gone back and reviewed the spot and then ruled it a safety. But nobody questioned the spot at the time.

Sure, but you have to applaud the quick-thinking "plant" referee for giving Bama an out in this situation with the bogus late-hit call, taking away the focus of the safety.

That guy earned his money.

False.

It looks more like it’s not on the ground than on it.

The fact that we can literally debate this is why they called it correctly.

Better luck next week son

Literally a thread about coping with yet another Bama win.
