Though the stories are well-written, their collaborators are abusing italics and ellipses.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thoughtful piece, but when you stress every other word or phrase it loses the intended emphasis.

I understand they are not gunning for a Pulitzer, but you don't necessarily have to write in your speaking cadence

Several of these "letters" have come out recently

Methinks these draft prospects all hired the same agent and or PR firm. Fair play to them though, these things really stir the loins of middle age white guys who like to gush over how "well spoken" these guys are.

Amazing read, Allen is special and down to earth. I hope he has all the success in the world.

What I got from that (other than a great read by a player who had a lot to say) was the answer to a question I -- and, I suspect, many people here -- have always had. How does someone with Saban's personality manage to play the recruiting game? Nobody could ever call him placating or obsequious, which seems to be a major component of recruiting nowadays. I wish more coaches handle it the way Saban does -- polite but straightforward, without any of the usual jumping through hoops. Recruiting news would be a lot less annoying. Well, it would still be pretty annoying because I have to get excited over a high 3 star coming in to give us much-needed talent, but still....
From what I know, he and Coach Bryant are very similar in their approach to recruits and their families. Of course, their success and prominence makes it easier for them to take than particular approach.

Why do you think that they deem it so important to impress middle aged white guys?

It's shocking what people will come up with to discredit something......oh wait it's the rant. Nothing is safe and we can't have anything nice.
