Premise invalidated. "Facts" proven wrong. And I'm not your brother, bitch.

No wonder you are still part of the Closeted LSU Cabal.

Another astute observation from the trailer park.

Are you saying Alabama quit playing it's home games at Legion field because the Auburn game was changed, rather than because Alabama upgraded Bryant-Denny and Legion field turned into a shite hole due to lack of upgrades?

Not at all. I’m saying that the iron bowl became substantially more balanced once Auburn stopped playing a series that was essentially a yearly home game for updykebammer.

And I’m saying that y’all fought tooth and fricking nail to keep it at legion field every single year because it was essentially a home game for you.

If you want to compare, you lead the series 16-15 since 1989. Since the true home and home started, we lead the series 11-9.

UF during the day because of stadium design that traps heat at field level.
Day games suuuuuuuuuuuuuuck at the swamp!!! Luckily my buddy's tix are on the home side(some shade), but sucks because they're field level in the alumni section.

It was for Auburn as well, for quite some time.

Alabama also played major rivals such as Tennessee and Georgia Tech in Birmingham in those days (and would continue to do so well into the 1990s). Auburn did likewise, playing Georgia Tech at Legion Field until 1972 and Tennessee there until a few years later.

What really happened is that, being the sore losers that AU fans tend to be, the Alabama winning streak in the 70s cause your season ticket holders to avoid Legion Field at all costs - including games not against Alabama. Not able to take losing to Alabama for so much during that time frame, your fans just refused to go.

It became a de facto home game for Alabama not because of Alabama pushing Auburn out, but because of Auburn fans simply NOT GOING to the game. If the game had been played in the Georgia Dome, and most of the Auburn fans refused to go because they had been losing to Georgia all those years there, then it'd eventually evolve into being a home game for Alabama anyway.

Look, I'm glad Legion Field isn't used anymore. The stadium has aged poorly, and the area around it is crime-infested and an eyesore.

But don't reinvent history. Don't alter the situation around it to make Auburn into some kind of "sticking up for the little guy" story. Your fans simply STOPPED GOING, well before Legion Field fell into decay.
