As if that wasn't enough of a punch to the gut, I am just now pulling my head out of my own arse enough to discover the county where Columbia MO is located and where I grew up has for many generations been referred to as "Little Dixie" and still refers to it that way on some road signs and what not.

I have yet to hear a strong southern accent in Missouri, so therefore it's more midwest. Just thinking about that, Guess we won't be seeing anymore Mizzou games on foxsports MIDWEST

The Missouri Waltz was nearly banned. They had to revise the original lyrics to make it non-racist.

You should read the original lyrics.

Sigh...OK here goes, but remember you were warned:

THE MISSOURI WALTZ (Original Lyrics)

Well here we are in Missouri
Where we really don't like Asians
They are smarter and know ninjitsu
and often come here on vacations

They take pictures of our campus
and contribute to our economy
but because we are all so bigoted
we wish they'd leave us in our Missouri

It just kinda goes on like that. Shameful...

Really the only difference was instead of old folks the song said "darkies". It was changed when the song became the official state song of Missouri.

Here's a cool Johnny Cash version of it

Yeah I'm glad they changed that. Did a Mizzou Alum write that shite and did they write it in the 1940's??

I've lived in Missouri since 1998 and never heard the song, I'll look at that a lil later.

At least you guys are southern and geographically south. Missouri folks are trying to prove they belong in the south and are southerners. I'll still be watching the Cardinals tonight on Fox Sports MIDWEST though.
