ah, then you have no passion about the topic, just the fruit of a labored discussion. you had me going.
I have a little...but really I have a hard time being passionate over a subject we're not going to ever agree on. I mean, I don't agree...but that's just enough fuel to keep the BS going. Plus, we're having some good discussion.

words are powerful. using words like "never" is like a sith. only sith deal in absolutes. aren't you more familiar with Lucas theology.

fwiw.. Just from another perspective....
As a Christian it's a duty to spread the Word. Having said that, it doesn't mean we can't discern our time with those we share it with. Too many get wrapped up into believing that they have to make someone believe. As long as we've given the information for someone to make a decision, we've done our part, the rest is up to them. As an example.. take the parable of the rich man. He asked Jesus how he could get to heaven. Jesus told him basically cast away his belongings and follow him. Of course, he did not do that, and Jesus did not stay to convince him. He told him what needed to be done, the rest was up to the rich man. Even Jesus moved on to help those that would be helped and left the others to do what they will.
And I'm not being judgemental to anyone either. So don't take this as being that. Just saying... we as Christians, don't have to argue to convince, we just have to share the word, the rest is up to yall.

You know, as an atheist, one of my favorite things is when Christians try to spread the "word" to me. I mean that. If they think this is life and death, something of the most importance in the world, and they try to share that with me.
It's one of the nicest things someone can do.

I agree that it is. And is what we're supposed to do. But getting mad and into arguments is fruitless and serves no purpose. That is time wasted that could be spent with someone else, if they need.

i look at what i'm doing with Duke as iron sharpening iron. i believe most people have no clue what they believe... even though their mouths will tell you they do. some people believe they don't believe, yet their actions prove otherwise. so, what Duke really believes and what he doesn't believe i'm not 100% on... what i do know, is that if a brother can listen AND speak, then I love the process. it's mutually beneficial.
*edit* this is no pearl to swine as the analogy goes... wait, he's an ole miss fan. maybe he is swine? nah, i don't really hate ole miss. just felt that might get a rise out of folks... for serious.

I agree.. and I'm not trying to end the discussion, just saying when it quits being a discussion and tempers flare, then it's time to move on. The thing that is most often mistook is that everyone that calls themselves Christian is above reproach. Everyone falls and does wrong, and using that as a crutch to say, look at him.. he says he's a Christian, yet he does this.. often times is the go to argument for those that don't wish to try to understand more.

I am a liar. I'm leaning towards maybe there's an impersonal God out there. I'm doing this shite Thomas Jefferson style. You know, without fricking slaves.

I enjoy it when a christian tries to spread the word as well. If they arent pushy about im pretty open to listen and try to actually make them think about their faith without attacking it.

Considering none of the writers of the gospels were at the cross it is safe to say they wrote about the parts that struck them from others' testimonies being passed down.
