The Deliverance jokes by Georgia fans earlier this season were particularly lame because Deliverance was shot and set in Georgia.
I guess people make a connection between Arkansas and Deliverance because of the "squeal like a pig" thing in the movie.

I always thought it was because people usually make reference to what they like...ya know like hunters talking about hunting, football fans talking about football, etc. ...and they like to talk about ......well, you get my point?

It's exceedingly lame when people make references to pork, bbq, swine, etc. Every single week, we have trolls who come on Razorback message boards and exclaim they are going to have a "Pig Roast" or "BBQ Pork" this week. Pork rinds and bacon are also played. Not sure the insult, actually. Last week before the Auburn game I had a big plate of bacon with my eggs, pancakes and toast. And I ate some ribs at a post-game party.
Yes, our mascot is of the porcine variety. They are vicious animals in the wild and the mascot itself is unique in the American sports world. We like it. We don't mind at all references to pork, swine, ham, bacon, bbq, etc.
One of my favorite "insults" that got thrown back in the faces of the insulters came in the final game of the 1994 Final Four. We're playing those arrogant dickheads from Duke, and we are down by 10 midway through the second half. Nolan calls timeout and the camera goes to the Duke student section, where those smarmy nerds are chanting "I smell bacon" in their sissy little New-Jersey-Went-To-Durham accents. For the remainder of the game, Corliss and the Hogs chipped away at that lead until Scotty Thurman drained a three-pointer with 4 seconds left on the clock. And after Duke missed a desperation three, we were national champs. Bacon indeed.

So far.
Undefeated 1964 season was special, though I was about 6.75 years from making my appearance on this earth at that time. That year actually influenced the major polling services to begin naming their champs after the bowls instead of before them.
The 1977 season we went 10-1, losing only to texas. Beat #1 Oklahoma in the Orange bowl 31-8. That was a high point for sure, but it's empty without a MNC. I guess we could have done like Bama and claimed it anyway. Or maybe done like Old Miss and hung a banner.

another lame one some people with recent success like to pull out on bama is to refer to their recent trophies. they like to say "where's your hardware" as frequently as possible. i'm like... mofo, have you ever even SEEN our trophy cabinet?

When my son was at WSU, the state pinheads tried to abolish any mention of WSU as "Wazzou" because of the slang connotation.
