vandy fans suck. they are probably my 3rd hated fanbase uga and bammer. you would think they are good.
as for the classiest besides AU, I would go with Arkansas. They were great in 06 when they came in and beat our arse. No trash talking at all. It was almost like they were in shock. seriously.

Penn State...
You may want to search youtube for the Penn State fans pelting two Ohio State fans with anything they could pick up just for walking by.
I think all of these debates about classy fans are stupid because every school can point to something great or monumentally stupid one or a group of fans did to make a case one way or another.

"Class" is the most overused, cliche term in SEC football.

I think when SEC teams play against OOC opponents, the SEC fans generally show a lot of class towards the other fanbase... but when SEC teams go against other SEC teams, that's when the asses start to show as far as fanbases. I believe this holds true to EVERY SEC fanbase... some worse than others, depending on the rivalry.

well,if that happened the way she says it did, that's deplorable.
Chances are good it didn't happen as she says it did. It happens...but is very rare for people to target someone like that who's walking along minding his own business. Bet money something was said, somebody responded, and it escalated.
I suppose her son never learned how effective a drinking straw, rubber band, and a couple other items can be.

They might act like they don't, but deep down they really do.

Hey auzach91, see my post above. OOC opponents' fan bases are treated differently...

I had a 7 y/o girl throw a cupcake at me at the UF game in 2006.

yea I saw after I posted. I dont see any team treated differently at Auburn, except bammer. And unless the other fanbase brings it on themselves. Of course we have our bad fans, but we are generally known as a pretty "classy" fanbase.
here is one about what scott van pelt saw at the auburn-uga game

The Fans - I knew I was in a " red state " from all the Suburbans with W
stickers but the truth of it is, this part of Alabama is an orange state.
Every man woman and child is in the same shade of orange. Not unusual I know
...but THIS was...they are nice, friendly, and polite - to GEORGIA FANS.
Nobody called anyone in Black and Red **** or *sshole...nobody told them
they sucked.... These people are your friends, you don't know it yet because
you haven't met them
- but when you do - you have met a friend. you want a beer ? some bar- B - Q
? grab some. Let's talk for a while....war eagle...let's have a good game. I
saw this at tailgate after tailgate. Stragglers who wander by are offered
anything that's available - didn't matter what color they were wearing. This
is the oldest rivalry in the South - they call it Brother vs. Brother and
they mean it. Now there are certainly cliche's about down home country
sensibilities - but these folks embodied the best part of the notion of
southern hospitality. Though many did admit it's a tad LESS civil for the
Iron Bowl.
