I fully admit, Google AI spit it out to me when I was running queries last week. I wasn't prompting, I simply asked it to assess the conflict between the SEC and LSU, and what may occur now that the La AG was getting involved.
It's basically the foundational basis for an antitrust suit against the SEC, if that were to be pushed. And the SEC has done enough that it is at least a viable charge that likely would not be dismissed out of hand.
I'm pretty sure that's why the SEC was trying to have a federal judge say they could do what they want, to try to defend against that. And the fact that they did NOT get a ruling says it's still lurking in the background.
Basically, it would be the nuclear option and would destroy the SEC and bigtime college football (athletics). But considering the threats the SEC floated out, LSU might not have anything to lose if it came to that.
LSU is a Louisiana STATE institution, which is why the La AG became involved. Why do you think there was a point made about the extreme financial impact the SEC threat would have, and that the state would be forced to address it? Do you think those were all empty soundbites?
That's not a path the SEC or NCAA wants to go down, I promise you. Nobody wants that, so the SEC needs to stop trying to push LSU (or anyone else) up against the wall too much.

I laughed when the AI outlined it, but hell, this was back before Sankey testified, when the AG sent in the amicus brief. I asked why the AG was getting involved and what their angle could be, and on every "What if" it eventually circled back to this, to force a stalemate or backdown. Said the behavior of the SEC, with this amount of money at play, was open to antitrust accusations, and AI insists such a case would never be heard, that it would force a settlement.
Apparently the AI thinks it's common knowledge that college football is breaking all sorts of antittrust laws, and survives by nobody ever pushing the issue.
