For other uses, see Butterfly effect (disambiguation).
Point attractors in 2D phase space
In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions, where a small change at one place in a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences to a later state. The name of the effect, coined by Edward Lorenz, is derived from the theoretical example of a hurricane's formation being contingent on whether or not a distant butterfly had flapped its wings several weeks before.
Although the butterfly effect may appear to be an esoteric and unlikely behavior, it is exhibited by very simple systems: for example, a ball placed at the crest of a hill may roll into any of several valleys depending on, among other things, slight differences in initial position.
The butterfly effect is a common trope in fiction when presenting scenarios involving time travel and with hypotheses where one storyline diverges at the moment of a seemingly minor event resulting in two significantly different outcomes.

Who is to say if the PP pick us upheld that we don't throw a pick 6 on the next play. If Bama got jobbed on a bad call that cost them the game (ie. bullshite block in the back on a kick return for a TD) I would be the first to admit it.

You are exactly right about 1/9. The two games were not identical though. We had way more success offensively in the first game and disrupted McCarron on several occasions. Saban made the right adjustments the 2nd time around and it showed.

Ah, "There's my Huckleberry" . Dude stop listening to The Tim Brando show live from the Chateau !
quote:You're wrong. They were exactly the same game except for Bama executed and didn't make any mistakes on 1/9 and LSU played the same game as 11/5. Nothing changed on 1/9 except for Bama's defensive game plan.

LINK
Bama tried little ole field goals of 44, 50, 49 and 52 yards. Above is a link to the stats of last years NCAA field goal kicker stats. If you look at the 50 plus range (3 of the 4 are essentially 50 yarders) where most of Bama’s kicks were attempted you can see few coaches tried them and those that did, had very little success.
Most every Bama fan acts as if those field goals were gimmes.

Just as most Lsu fans act is if they're impossible to make. Bama needed to hit just one and it was game over. Kudos to Lsu for the Nov 3 OT win. Kudos to Bama for the first BCS CG shut out.

Bama was ranked 6th in the Nation on field goals making 63.9% and were 4-11 from 40-49yds. Mind you I also said that All Bama needed was one and LSU never sees OT and yet missed five. But LSU was the better team that night. Dude take the friggin purple and gold glasses off.

Thanks for posting the article link. As a Bama alum, I embrace my obsession. I was a student when Coach Bryant was still coaching, and I've loved The University and Tuscaloosa since the first time I went there.
As we were leaving A-Day this year, there was a little white-haired lady in a Bama t-shirt walking down the ramp with one of those rolling walkers. I pointed her out to my Bama grad son and said, "That's me in twenty years. Just drop me off and I'll see you after the game,"

IF Oklahoma Stat's kicker could have made a 20 yarder against Iowa y'all would have never been in the championship game. I wonder what the odds would have been on that chip shot.
Bottom line is your kicker didn't make any of them and you lost. All the IF-ing in the world ain't gonna change that. IF horses had wings all men could fly. Take of your crimson glasses dude.

quote:"I wouldn't". So maybe being the Delusional LSU fan that you are even you should be able to make a good assumption with all the stats and posts that I have done for you that "Bama was the beater team on 11/5" and that Most Bama fans aren't delusional but in fact very knowledgeable and football savy.
By the way Shelley was 5 for 6 on field goals made on 1/9 and 2 for 3 from 40-49. So you still wanna bet against the odds on Shelley not making 1 of the 5 missed on 11/5 in a 2nd game?
