No way the committee is putting two SEC teams in again.

Bama winning it all as the 4th seed last year justified the committee decision and will make it easier for them to select two same-conference teams again imho.

So wait, is it "best four" or "four most deserving?"

Gump logic.

See my post....your "logic" requires you to overlook how the Conference Champ vs the National Title Champ games are allocated.

These clowns just don't want to face reality. The committee will look at each team's body of work, wins, losses and opponents, then decide who the four best are....by the way doesn't Alabama have wins over 4 current top-25 teams?...their selection is a no-brainer and knowledgeable folks (the committee) knows it!

Alabama would qualify under either scenario.

Exactly...if say Texas, Northwestern, UCF, and whatever shitty team Clemson plays win, then by some of the "logic" being espoused in here, those teams either belong in the playoff and/or are the best teams in their conferences...good grief our "Gump logic" seems pretty strong in the light of this idiocy...

Exactly!

........................................................

The selection committee's directive

"The night before we went in for our mock selection committee, we were each given a binder that included an agenda, the selection committee's protocol, instructions on "how to select the four best teams to compete for the College Football National Championship,"

Now shut the frick up and run along!

you justify a team that loses by 29 to a 6-6 unranked team deserves to be in over a team that loses to a #4 ranked team?

I have never justified such. Care to provide a link as proof?

No.

only undefeated teams would qualify

If the winners of the conference game is the best team in the conference, then you simply choose the champions from the best 4 conferences and have a tournament of champions.

See how that logic works?

The fear from the Suckeye fans is palpable. They know how poor their team is and they're embarrassed they're going to get left out...again.

y your and Displaced's "logic", Northwestern somehow wins today, that equates to them being the best team in the Big 10

That's YOUR logic, the winner of a championship game is the best team.

"If somehow UCF makes the playoffs and wins the championship game, that equates to them being the best team in the country."

The year that Alabama goes 13-1, wins the SEC, and gets left out of the playoffs, you will change your mind and look like a hypocrite. Meanwhile, I will remain consistent.

If you have so much confidence that a panel of so-called experts can determine who the best 4 teams are, why not just let them decide who the single best team is?

No, it doesn't, they are both determined by a championship game. You seem to think that teams in conference championship games are just randomly selected, but they are selected on best records in the conference over the course of the season.

Wouldn't the four best be the most deserving?

Are you somehow under the impression that a team that is not the four best deserves to be in the playoffs?

I've got ONE simple "yes" or "no" question, Bucknut(we don't need any of you rationalization )

Is Alabama one of the best four teams in the country?

answer just yes or no...nothing else.

I guess it is a good thing I was not talking to you, then. maybe you should brush up on thread reading 101?
If you trouble yourself to read my post again, I was clearly saying that to DisplacedBuckeye.

I don't answer subjective questions with a simple yes or no.
