Too often I think we don't give enough credit to a coachs ability to hire quality assistants to his staff. Saban has it down to a science in that he always has an elite staff. Miles has started to figure it out with Chavis and what many would expect to be a good hire in Cameron. Has anybody ever won the Sec or Natty for that matter without an elite staff?

Yeah, but which of those are truly elite?

Miles is an elite coach. Pelini has held down the Nebraska job for awhile.

You forgot to mention UGA in your post.

Other than being a very good head coach, I think this is Sumlin's strong suit. A lot of Aggies have bitched and moaned about his hires... until the season started (granted, it is only one season). Most notably Mark Snyder - that hire caused conniption fits.

was the question asked in the OP.

UGA won the SEC with Neil Callaway as OC and Willie Martinez as DC in 2005. Auburn's DL coach and Tennessee's DC were also on the staff.

But of course you're so ignorant about SEC that you couldn't even remember who David Greene was, so that doesn't surprise me.

Sorry. I thought it was just NC's. Since it is SEC and NCs then Richt has to be considered since he isnt elite.

You're projecting that Cam Cameron is a good hire

You don't think Cameron is going to turn out to be a great hire?

The majority of hires look great. That's why they're made.

Not all end up being great.

I agree, BoBo has been a great hire for South Carolina. Cudos to Marky Mark Richt for that one. Genius.
