We had previous NC's, under the four team format, that didn't even win their own Division. Do you really think that team deserved the opportunity?

Umm, the team that is favored to win this year's national championship game didn't even play for their conference championship.

So?

Once the playoffs expand to 16 teams conference championship games will of necessity go away. It will make scheduling and broadcasting the playoffs much better.

Ohio State didn't win a division or conference (and wouldn't have won their old division if it still existed). They in no way "earned their way in" to anything. They are the same as the "didn't win their division" team you are referencing except you need to tack on ANOTHER loss. Notre Dame won nothing and beat nobody in the regular season. They earned their way in by having 1 loss.

I have no issue with either being in the game or anything, but to act like either of these teams (especially Ohio State) somehow "earned" something that teams in the BCS/4 team format didn't is absurd.

This format's biggest beneficiaries are really good teams that slip up and get another chance.

This is not a 4 team Tourney. It's a 12 team tourney. Comparing the two is laughable.
