Kinda feel like Penn St has earned #1 on this kind of thing forever.

Are you dyslexic? Because the article you posted is from 2012, not 2021.

Tennessee would probably make the list now.

Nope. The original story the press ran with was the PA attorney general putting out unsubstantiated accusations to convince the grand jury, when it turned out that it was ex-coach Sandusky on his own abusing kids involved with a charity, and he is in prison as he should be.

The crimes had nothing to do with Penn State players or coaches, no playing advantage was garnered like from recruiting or even academics. Paterno was told one watered down story that appeared like horseplay and he told his superiors. That specific accusation, by the way, was one of the few for which Sandusky was found not guilty.

Even after all these years the current rules state for coaches to do exactly what Paterno did. The NCAA took away the sanctions and gave Paterno back his wins.

Penn State might be the only P5 school that has never been sanctioned for major infractions. Even Vandy and Stanford have.
