That is my favorite quote on any of the 30 for 30 sessions. It was Bo Jackson speaking about the phone call he received from Coach Bryant and how the neighborhood stopped by to look at that phone.
I am not making light of Bo or this 30 for 30 program or the rivalry. It reminds me of something that would have been done in my own small neighborhood.
I just really enjoy watching him say it and thinking about how those people must have been proud of Bo and in awe of the phone call Coach Bryant made to him.

Definitely one of my favorite 30 for 30s. I loved that moment too. I also loved the way that everyone told their stories about Bo. Made him actually seem "Paul Bunyon-esque"

It's great because I grew up hearing the same stories from my Dad about both Bo and Herschel. His favorite to tell was the time Bo launched a homer over the center field lights at Foley Field and onto the UGA tennis courts. Very tall tale-esque.

In 1982, I was a freshman at AU and remember the UGA-AU game that season.
Hershel and Bo looked different than all the other players.
Hershel won the game on a 50 yard run or so in the 4th quarter.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Bo during the inaugural Bo Bikes Bama ride. Out of the celebrities, he and Picaboo Street were the most approachable.
One night at dinner, he told us that story amongst others.

big fan of bo jackson ... best athlete i've ever seen ... shame he injured his hip that way ... could've rushed for 10000 yards and hit 300 or so homers, at least ...

One day, during the ride, KG Jr had a mechanical that I had to repair. We ended up riding together for most of that day. He said that there wasn't a player before or after Bo that could hit the ball harder or farther.
My response,"Come on, I've seen you hit some rockets."
Jr"On my best day, I have never hit a ball as hard or far as Bo regularly hit them.
