Oklahoma is not even close to being Southwest, and don't mistake Texas "the school and the city of Austin and it's weirdos" as being representative of Texas, the state...Literally everyone I grew up around in West Texas were from families that originally hailed from the deep South from way way back...They are literally your cousins that migrated from the deep South to the West as soon as Mexico started letting immigrants come from the US back in the day...

Oklahoma though, I think they could be an easier fit for the BIG. They are more Midwest with a little bit of Texas and a little bit of the South.
