The reason I posted the article here was they referenced the SEC, not A&M. It would be the same as if FSU or Clemson started claiming they were trying to be an "SEC Style" team without the schedule. FWIW, that's the key to the SEC, running the gauntlet. Great defense is obviously important but that is just basic football, offensive scheme is less so.
MB has started this PR campaign though because he is scared of the SEC and what it is doing to his recruiting base both from A&M but also LSU and other SEC schools. He is seeing more and more kids that were locks for Texas a couple of years ago saying they want to play in the SEC. Thus his solution is to act as though Texas is now "SEC style" and you can come to Texas and it's just like going to an SEC school because they have a good defense and are run first. Really it is just him trying to cover up how they can't throw the football anymore since Colt left.
As for all the "little brother" and "obsessed" crap it's kind of hard not to come across articles about Texas while living in Texas. I ignore 98% of it unless it is relevant to A&M or the SEC as this is.

quote:I guess that is right. I usually don't think of it as that close but remembered that when aTm cheats they make it respectable.
I'm 34. In my lifetime (1978-present):
First 10 games: 6-4 A&M
Second 10 games: 7-3 A&M
Third 10 games: 7-3 Texas
Last four games: 3-1 Texas
Total over the last 34 games: 17-17
If you exclude seasons where aTm is on football probation Texas winning percentage over aTm is right around 75% of the time. Sherril and Slocum couldn't beat Texas and OU without cheating. One school is The University of the state, the other is a sub campus. Austin is one of the great college towns, Bryan/College Station is kind of rural small town. Texas has unbelievable facilities, huge endowment, better academics, aTm is second best.
Look I get why you left the Big 12, getting your arse kicked for 100+ years makes it tough to be a fan. Being treated like a second class institution by everyone in the state has to suck.

Screw Mack and TUx can go suck on shitballs for all I care.
They're scared shitless that the Aggie's are going to get all "thier" precious recruits. I'm predicting Texas is on thier way down....further. It won't be long before Kansas of all teams are gonna be punking Texas.....
and thats bad.

You're an idiot if you think Texas wasn't cheating just as much in the 80's and 90's, and they still cheat to this day. The only reason Texas never got major sanctions and received a slap on the wrist the one time they were busted is because the head of the NCAA enforcement committee was a Texas law professor and booster. It's no secret that current players "get taken care of" either, so spare me the cheating rap.

A&M was the first state school founded, not Texas, and is a flagship institution of the state, not a "sub-campus". Austin isn't a college town at all, it's a major city, and Bryan/College Station consists of 200,000 people, hardly a "rural small town".
A&M also has unbelievable facilities, is Top 10 in the country in endowment, and academics is a wash. We do far more research than Texas does, our engineering, science (biology, chemistry, physics, etc), and architecture programs are better, and we are tops in the country for agriculture and vet school. Corporate recruiters ranked A&M the #2 school in the nation for quality of new hires; Texas wasn't even in the top 25.
The only claims of academic superiority Texas can claim are that their business school is slightly better, they have better liberal arts, and their medical/law schools are considerably better (A&M just acquired a law school this year).
Now, take you stupid, arrogant arse back over to shaggybevo where you belong.

That Texas ego just can't stand to be anything less than number 1. Sad for them that they're so often disappointed.

I distinctly remember Eric Dickerson talk how Texas (aka Sips now) cheated like crazy on the SMU 30 for 30 ESPN series. Wishful thinking, though, to think that your precious program with the glorious facilities is perfect...ha ha. The arrogance of Texas fans is mind boggling.

Having a Texas prof as the Head of the NCAA Infractions Committee does do wonders for getting your competition on probation while getting your wrist slapped when you have your whole team on the payroll. Charles Allan Wright had his fingerprints on every NCAA investigation from the early '70s until the late '90s. In the modern era of scholarship limits and A&M not beign an all male, all military school the records is even between the schools. A&M is also older than Texas and there is no connection between the schools, we are completely independent of Texas. Our $7 Billion endowment, AAU Membership, and superior research spending hardly makes A&M second rate.
BTW, could you get your AD to stop emailing me with half price ticket offers to all these games you can't get anyone to go to? What's next, giving them away at McDonalds with a Happy Meal purchase?

Yes it is. Her name is Sarah Barthel. She is hot as hell. I'm pretty sure she is sleeping with the dude in the band, but I'd still hit it.

So I guess you just kind of lurk around another conference's message board, waiting for any mention of Texas so that you can tell us how great it is?
Oh. Cool.
Can hardly wait to have thousands of others just like you in The Grove in a few weeks.

This is the first post I've seen by an Aggie about Texas. I've seen several posters post already (not Aggies) about Texas....but you all don't give a frick about them right? Still don't get the inconsistent logic other that it is stupid.

follow Texas very closely,, particularly for recruiting purposes, and they are building an SEC type squad. They're building around the power run, big powerful OL, athletic, big DL, and bigger, more athletic, well coached DBs.

Ummm......no
A&M will be hurting UTx the next decade with the SEC recruiting angle.

Texas really has decided they are an SEC Team, how cute
Ideal scenario:
A&M surprises everyone by winning at least 9 games this season. Goes to the Cotton Bowl to play t.u. Wins by 7 touchdowns.
Afterwards, Eric Hyman and Kevin Sumlin hold a press conference telling the sips that "we might have an opening to play you in about 10 years".
A&M can't even beat Arkansas, how are you going to win 9 games?
