They had success running the ball
Look at the RB stats.

23 carries for 95 yds 4.1 yds per carry, that will get you somewhere between 125th to dead last in the country.

Rivalry game. Freshman QB in a hostile environment. Piggie has talent.

24-20 Texas in a squeaker, but I would not be surprised if Piggie wins.

KJ has a 49% completion rate going into his 3rd year while averaging 3.2 ypc. He is a worse version of Tyrone Swoopes.

He’s only played in mop up duty as a true freshman most of that, save for one start last year. Sample size is too small to really count on stats.

If not for 4 drops against Rice he would have completed over 70% of his passes but he does have a lot of work to do on passing the ball. We need to design more runs for him and get him on the move where he’s more comfortable.

Jefferson has only started a few games since 2019. He has never been a starter for a full season.

The thing I like the most from the 20 point defeat of Louisiana was that Texas has a new coach, new schemes and a freshman QB......and Texas had no false start penalties, no delay of game penalties and no turnovers.
