Well, considering there’s no definition of a college football blue blood in Merriam-Webster, it’s a subjective term. So you have your definition, I have mine.
My definition is a top 5 program in the history of college football. You can debate who is or who is not in that realm. However, I’m not of the opinion Texas meets that threshold by any measure.
It's not a subjective term, and since people have been using the term for over half a century, it's certainly not without meaning.
There is a list of 8 blue bloods and it's basically set in stone.
If you want to make a rankings of top 5 programs in history, have at it. But it has nothing to do with the term blue blood, even if many - if not all the top 5 will be blue bloods.

Neither is our UT.

Don’t recall there being a law anywhere that says there’s eight blue bloods. Maybe there’s some agreement, but this thread isn’t about that.
So if you want to talk about the “eight” blue bloods, have at it. Start your own thread and go to town.

Nah, you made a thread with the word, deal with it when people point out your ignorance.
Besides, I don't know why you are talking shite. Neither Texas nor Oklahoma have been the best teams in the Big12 and you play the same shitty schedules Texas has over the years. The Big12 was 1-6 in the playoffs, and the only team among them with a win was TCU. Oklahoma 0-4, Texas 0-1, TCU 1-1.
And you just lost to a team that hasn't been relevant since before either of you were.

Really impressed you can google stats. To test your ignorance, clearly OU was the most dominant team for the entirety of the big 12s existence.
I’ll take this further that even the great Alabama experienced protracted periods of lackluster performance. Pre Saban, you went through a decade of irrelevancy. So, your argument stemming in absolutes is ridiculous.
Sure, you can challenge my definition. I can counter and say you’re wasting your time.

At least you're honest about it. Kudos.

OU couldn't win a playoff game. TCU went further than any Big12 team in the playoff era.
Alabama won the SEC in 1999 and` had some rough times from 2000-2007. However, Oklahoma has won a total of 1 NC in the past 39 years and there is no question it's about to be 40. Meanwhile, you're seriously throwing shade at Texas for having only one in the past 55?
Even without Saban Alabama has as many national championships in the past 40 years as Oklahoma.

Yeah because sabans the goat. Not sure why you think I’d be insulted.
Well…a few things you missed there. We’ve been to the last game of the season 7x in 40 years. We’ve also got 4 heismans in 20 years.
We also have a winning record against you in 40 years…actually just straight up.
…but you weren’t trying in the 2013 sugar bowl right?

Heisman is a dumb award, it's a team sport.
Making the last game of the season...but losing?
Bragging about having a 3-2 lead in a game series which is just a matter of when you happened to play each other? As I recall, 2 of those games were when Oklahoma was top5 team and Alabama was in the already mentioned 2000-2007 dark ages. And Oklahoma barely won. shite happens, I always liked that Oklahoma's band played Alabama's songs for them since the Alabama band couldn't make the trip.
And again, you are talking trash about Texas while listing these things as accomplishments?
If Texas isn't a blue blood, not sure what makes you think Oklahoma is either. If you wanna talk about top teams, there is a #1 and the rest of college football.
Or, you can recognize that the blue bloods are basically the teams that built the sport and gave it the popularity it has now. They were good in the 60's and 70's when college football was starting to get national TV time and national attention. Most games when I was a kid you could only catch on the radio, getting a game on TV was a big deal. As such, they have the largest and most loyal fanbases in general. It doesn't have a thing to do with top teams, it's not an evolving list.
That's what a blue blood is. It's always going to be those teams. If you are going to troll Texas, don't be stupid with it.

Texas stomps second rate competition to start the year, hasn’t even played an SEC game and “they’re back.” Let me tell you, what “back” actually is:
4 national championships (yeah, cool. Except those all happened in concentrated periods mostly won by a single coach in the 1960s)
2 heismans (you’d think that they won 12 heismans though)
4 Big XII championships (lol the delusion)
SEC originals, don’t buy the hype. They’re Purdue football with a kickass marketing campaign. We’ve dominated them for years (I don’t want to hear about the wins they accrued against OU in the leather helmet era).
OU is down this year. But we will be actually back when we rightsize the offense and play up to sec standards.
In the meantime, we will still beat Texas in a couple of weeks because we live rent free in their heads. I mean, their stadium is named after an OU football player?
Cheers.

I like the blue blood debate. Since the 90s I had teams in mind and I think they still rank - Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Texas, OU. To make ten add Georgia and LSU. The latter pushing out Miami and Nebraska. Florida State and Florida should be there but not sure what’s going on anymore down south.

I’m..I’m not going to read all that.
Let’s just agree you’re wrong and call it a day.
