Sark will be fired if they lose to Arky.

Arky and Aggie are in the bag. It's all about Georgia.

There's no reason to discuss "final stretch". It's Georgia. Our season pivots on that game.

Arky and Aggie are not winning in Austin. It's not even fathomable.

You had me until here. Sark brought Texas out of a the worst period in program history and has notched a 12 and 13-win season back-to-back after UT had one 10-win season over the previous 13 years

And this season is after losing 25 guys to the draft over the last 2 years with loads of 1st-year starters and key players coming back next year. He’s definitely earned the benefit of the doubt

Told you his seat would get hot...

I’m not necessarily sold on those rumors tbh. They’re not going to fire the guy.

If he wants to leave, he’ll leave. But they aren’t going to pay that enormous buyout and fire him without cause even if he gets blown on the next two games to end the season

I mean I never remember betting anything because you were trying to bet $5,000 of Monopoly money, but sure.

Going to be hilarious watching you kick and scream if his replacement doesn’t immediately win 16 games in their first season

Go ahead.

Careful what you wish for. Apologies in advance when Texas isn’t good enough to win the national title in the next coach’s first year

The bet was that he would never win the SEC or a national championship as long as he is head coach at Texas so it ends the day he leaves

I mean how long is the ban for?

You’d think somebody who’s entire wellbeing is centered around betting a stranger on a sports message board would have some terms worked out

When I come back, what is the bet for the new coach? How about $100 that the first coach doesn’t finish in the top 4?

Why on earth would I bet on a coach and we don’t even know who that is yet?
Let’s let this sark thing play out and see if he’s really gone before we can go there.

Well you are utterly certain that Texas can easily upgrade from a guy that finished in the top 3 each of the last two years. So why shouldn’t the new guy be held to a similar standard?

Like I said: careful what you wish for

I never said I was sure the next guy would be better. In fact, many times on this board, I’ve said there’s a really good chance we do worse, but when you know the guy you have isn’t the guy that can get you to the top you have to take a chance.
I realize the next guy could be worse and our athletic department doesn’t have a stellar reputation when it comes to hiring guys, but I don’t believe Sark is someone who could ever get us there so I think we have to swing for the fences.
We have to ask ourselves what we want to be. Do we really want to be a program that can compete for titles or do we just want to be content winning 8 to 10 games a year and looking like arse every time we play someone like Kirby?
You don’t have to agree, but that’s where I stand on it

It doesn’t matter what either of us think anyway. The guys with the power are the ones that make all these decisions. we are just jackasses on a message board.

I don’t disagree with this. But we’ve seen many times that teams that are quick on the trigger end up even worse than before.

Look at Auburn post malzahn (or chizik even). Look at Florida.

Better yet, look at Nebraska after Frank Solich. Have they ever finished a season with less than 3 losses since they fired him for doing just that in 2003?

I get swinging for the fences, and CDC has done well at that. But I also believe some loyalty is owed when a man just won 12 games or more each of the last 2 seasons (something that’s happened maybe 5 or 6 times in program history, if that) after taking over a program in the midst of its worst era ever

He has a lot of players coming back next year that had very little experience coming in this year. I think that should count for something too. If Texas is scuffling at 4 or 5 losses next year, obviously my tune would change

I think we mostly agree on this I’ll even be honest and tell you that I wanted mack fired after the fifth straight loss to Oklahoma. Clearly, I’m glad I was wrong about that. Mack had his faults, but he brought in the greatest quarterback to ever step on campus and let him play his game and win his way so he deserves credit for that.
Everything I’ve said about Sark is clearly just my opinion. I may be right and I may be wrong, but like I said, it really doesn’t matter what we think anyway. We don’t move the needle at all. the guys cashing the checks make all these decisions. Our job is to bitch on message boards.
