well, we've been 9-0 in the 60s and 6-0 in the 80s, but we're halfway there again anyway.

SWC titles? SWC TITLES? Who gives a frick about SWC titles? All we care about is winning our Aggiessesed superbowl and 41-27 or whatever the frick our super-duper-sweet-awesome-six-toed-masturbation all-time record is.

FWIW, if A&M and Texas don't win their conferences and have more than 8 wins it is a lock they will be in the Cotton Bowl every possible chance. They could probably charge $500 a ticket at Jerryworld and sell it out in an hour.
This is also why the rivalry will continue. There is simply too much money on the table for both sides and it makes no sense to the State of Texas not to have them play. That game has real economic impact to have the 2 Flagship schools in the State play (BTW, A&M and Texas are both considered Flagship schools because of their massive Systems and massive endowments along with 50k students at the main campus). Right now all that is stopping it is a butthurt DeLoss Dodds that is not likely to last much longer in Austin because of the disaster that is the LHN and his destruction of the relationship with A&M. President Powers at Texas is all but gone and with him goes Dodds. It doesn't hurt that Rick Perry is an Aggie and has appointed every member of the Texas Board of Regents as well as the Higher Ed Coordinating Board.
Ironically Texas quit playing us 100 years ago because we were beating their arse so badly. We responded by branding their nutless mascot with 13-0 (the last score) and they took a branding iron and made it say "Bevo". The sips have always been a bunch of spoiled crybabies when they don't get their way and everyone doesn't worship them.
It's also ridiculous to talk about how Texas has owned A&M from the beginning of time. I'm 41 years old and the record in my lifetime is basically even between the schools (the last 35 years favors A&M). Texas rolled up on A&M from WWII to when scholarship limitations kicked in.

The ONLY way these teams will play again is in the Cotton Bowl, or if Dodds retires. A&M hasn't held up our side of the rivalry for years now, but these things are cyclic.
I'm interested a lot more in playing LSU (big when I was in school), Arkansas, Florida, Alabama, etc... I even know a few t-sips who bought season tickets to Kyle Field this year because their own home schedule was so utterly lame.

...and THIS is why we should NEVER play them again. They are FUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKEEEEDDD with that shitty schedule and shitty conference. The t-shirt fans will walk away or start following A&M in the SEC. Texans want to watch Texans compete against other states, not big Texas University beat up on little, private Christian school with less than 50,000 living alum. They want to see big Texas School v. Big Louisiana School or Big Florida School, etc.

Nope. Played them fools since 1938. Miami became a school in 1926.
Coach Pell and the admin. stopped it in 1979 because we wanted a "national schedule", and the series ended in 1987.
We play them when an extra bye week is in the schedule, like next year.
I wish it didn't end imo. The games were always good, clean, and hard hitting even when either team wasn't good. As for the fans, well that's another story...

After about 4 years in the SEC, A&M will be too damn mean for the Sips!

Last I heard, they "don't have an opening" to play us until 2018
Followed 2 weeks later by scheduling UCLA in 2014. Of course, it's on the Longhorn Network, so it's as if it didn't happen.
quote:
Texas scheduled a one-time, non-conference football game with UCLA recently to be played at Cowboys Stadium in 2014, but the matchup was arranged by ESPN and the Longhorns were not trying to avoid a non-conference date with Texas A&M, athletic director DeLoss Dodds told the American-Statesman on Monday.
"We knew we were going to play UCLA before A&M announced it was leaving (the Big 12)," Dodds said. "So there was not an opportunity to play A&M. ESPN came to us."
The 2014 game with UCLA will earn Texas $4.5 million, Dodds said.

Don't think the game is going to be on the Longhorn Network, either, but either ESPN or ESPN2 (probably the former).
As for legislation to force the game to continue, two Aggie legislators plan to file legislation during the upcoming session to do just that.
quote:
With Texas A&M University heading for the Southeastern Conference in less than a year, one Montgomery County lawmaker wants to make sure the football rivalry between the Aggies and the University of Texas Longhorns doesn't disappear.
State Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, said he will file legislation during the 83rd session of the Texas Legislature in 2013 to instruct both Texas A&M and UT to continue their longstanding Thanksgiving football game.
Rep. John Otto, R-Dayton, will sponsor the legislation in the Texas House, according to a press release from Williams' office.

Since 1945 y'all have 9 SWC titles to our 12. Therefore, your bragging about conference titles from the 20's and 30's? Blows my mind you Ags use that argument to contradict our complete bitch slapping of you all time. Btw, this is my 1st post so read it and weep bitches. Just couldn't handle all these Aggy pussies and there weak attempts to live down our eternal raping of them. Congrats y'all owned the pre WW2 era (in terms of SWC titles) but we have owned you then, now, and forever! Go Hogs

lol "since 1945"
let's go with a different arbitrary year, say, 1975?
us - 8
you - 4

um. we left the conference in '91.
us -4
you - 5
see? all your cheating in the 80's could only buy you one more SWC title than arkansas in the proposed timeline.

Amen. They just keep digging. Yet, nothing changes the complete and utter dominance of us over them.

Was just looking at your schedule and it appears you aren't playing Texas this year. Is that permanent? We play FSU every year as one of our non-conference games. Do you plan on doing anything like that with Texas in the future. I would just hate not getting to play our in state rival every year.
tu refuses to play us. They told us when we left that we would no longer have the privilege of playing them in any sport. My understanding is that the SEC will allow us an open date in our schedule around Thanksgiving any time in the future if they change their minds. And "KU's" daddy is making them do the same thing to Missouri.
This game will unfortunately stay dormant for a while, at least until Dodds is gone. It's a shame, but it isn't our doing. Our official position is that we are ready to reinstate the series in all sports "anytime, anywhere."
