If you want to argue about doing away with anual cross divisional rivalry games, that's fine, but you started off in this thread by saying

quote:

but it would be nice for Bama to have a cross division opponent worth a shite for a change

And my question to you was were you whining about this when the tables were turned between UT and Bama and I guarantee you the answer to that question is a resounding no. My only intent was to point out your hypocrisy on the subject.

I’m sorry. I misspoke when I asked why you considered Tennessee to be the victim in this scenario. I should have immediately realized that you consider yourself to be the victim, as is the usual mode of thinking nowadays. Carry on screaming at the sky if it helps you work out those difficult emotions.

You can’t respond on the merits so you go to personal attacks instead.

I don’t view myself or anyone as a victim, I’m just advocating for competitive balance and scheduling, a staple of every sports league in the world except the SEC.

The merits are that the league understands and respects that history and tradition are a big part of what makes college football college football. When we make changes that eliminate traditional elements that are important to some people, it lessens the experience as a whole. Again, ask OU or Nebraska fans if they are happy with their game going away, or check with Auburn or Florida fans about theirs. If I wanted to watch the NFL, I’d watch, you know, the fricking NFL. For some reason it is only LSU fans that really seem to struggle with this concept.

Okay, then why does the league force us to move kickoff times?

I’d imagine that has more to do with tv than it does the league. But I don’t know - check with your AD if you really want an answer. Isn’t it their responsibility to stand up for LSU when the league doesn’t?

Who makes the TV contracts?

Thank you for admitting the league is happy to sell out college football tradition when it suits them.

1 vote of 14, and they’ve actually done an amazing job getting more night kickoffs in recent years but then you see Alabama whining and playing the victim about too many early kickoffs earlier this year and the next next week we’re playing at 11:30. Funny how that happens, isn’t it?

The bottom line is don’t give me this shite about history and tradition if you’re only going to stand up for that with regards to your team.

Hey, if y’all want to play night games only and don’t really give a shite about the exposure of playing in prime time, I support that. I will generally support anything that favors keeping important traditions over eliminating them in favor of either money or “making the league more like other leagues.” I don’t believe the SEC office is infallible. When they make decisions I agree with and believe are in the league’s best interests, I’ll applaud them. When they don’t, I won’t.

In your situation, why not pressure your AD to simply schedule all home games at night, regardless of what the league says? It’s not like they’re going to kick you out. But your AD is beholden to TV money just like everyone else’s these days.

If you change it to something more competitive and ‘balanced’, who’s to say the new opponent won’t take a dive for 10 years? This is a foolish argument. We’re all SEC schools. Everyone has the opportunity to be competitive. If Tennessee can’t field a good football team, that’s their problem, not Bama’s.
