Tennessee finally passed wine in grocery stores AND Sunday liquor sales and it was done by 'church' republicans. The churches have lost this battle.

Unless I stocked up on Saturdays, I had to drive up to Tenn to buy beer on Sundays until fairly recently. But once they allowed beer sales on Sundays, they went ahead allowed liquor sales. We still lose millions every year to you guys on lottery tickets. The churches still rule Alabama.

Didn't know that. I still don't think it will be a blow out if we win.
I do think that Pruitt, regardless of if he is the one who can bring you all back to national prominence, is at least a better fit than Dooley or Jones were.

We are only slightly more progressive than Alabama on these things but we've had a ton of migration from people all over the US the last 20 years and it's changed the state.

To be honest, I'm surprised about the lottery deal because I thought we were the last southern state to finally allow it. People would drive up to Kentucky to powerball tix.

Yeah we are getting migration here in North Alabama and slowly changing the state. The dumbest thing about alcohol sales on Sunday is that in most counties, you could drive to a bar and buy it, must drink it there, and they would make a lot of money on dui's. You weren't allow to go to a store and buy it, and take it home and drink it. It was one of the dumbest laws ever.

It was the beer barrel
They took it away after a drunk driving accident involving UK football players to give everyone time to heal

Yeah, we lost Trey Smith just before the SC game. He'd been practicing for the game all week but just before the team docs discovered that the blood clots in his lungs returned. He came back from it once because doctors said when it came to things like this it might be a one time thing and football wasn't the cause but I can't imagine him trying to come back again. The treatment now is likely blood thinners for life and you can't play contact sports on blood thinners.

Pruitt has called some beautiful defense but he hasn't been quiet about how frustrated he is with the roster. We have a handful of guys on each side of the ball that are good but the rest just aren't that talented and wouldn't play on another SEC team.

If Pruitt can continue to recruit well and we give him time to build I think he'll do well here. BUT we are in MUCH worse shape than I realized.

The answer is simple. We replace the alcohol with something else both Tennessee and Kentucky fans can get behind. Type-II diabetes.

You pop a pile of golden moonpies under a gilded bottle of mountain dew and you've got a trophy the winning team can proudly hoist in front of their home crowd.

Extremely crude mockup

Yeah we had a weird patchwork setup like that too. I live near a winery and before Sunday sales were allowed (and it's only been a few months), I could go buy wine or drink wine at the winery but I couldn't buy it at the grocery store or the liquor store.

We also had similar DUI issues because people would go into one city where they could drink and then drive back home. And truth be told, I think the way the new laws work on this counties are still left with a lot of power. Some are trying to ban wine in grocery stores as well as Sunday sales. The law is so new I couldn't tell you just how much autonomy they have yet.

Big loss. UK's Josh Allen is probably going to have his best game and might kill Geronimo

I knew about the Trey Smith situation. Horrible thing to happen to someone, especially so young. Wish him a long and healthy life.

Well, Mountain Dew is code for Moonshine. It was also invented in Knoxville.

Yes, sounds familiar. It is up to counties here and we still have many dry counties in Alabama, but fewer and fewer with each election. I bet on Tuesday, at least one county somewhere in Alabama will vote yes on alcohol sales.

damn. I may have to switch out the moonpies for fried chicken or Ale81 now. Moonpies we're supposed to represent Tennessee since they come from Chattanooga.

My thought was Mountain dew is the most popular soda in the Hollars of Kentucky.

Were it not for the fact that we have a huge liquor and wine industry, I don't think the new state laws would've passed at all. It still sucks that certain counties are ruled by church groups. Hopefully, they ease up on the alcohol issue both here and in Alabama.

I saw the progress that was made when my hometown finally passed liquor by the drink. Suddenly, restaurants and stores sprung up all over the place and it revived it. In contrast, I've seen what happens in the counties that keep refusing it and they're frozen in time -- no new industry at all goes in.

It is but there's not a dime's worth of difference between E.TN, E. KY, W. NC, and N. AL. That little patch of Southern Appalachia even has it's own dialect.
