Dooley was a good hire IMO. And recruits apparently think so to. Hes pulling a miracle with the UT class.

Urban's staff at Florida didn't consist of all Mid Major guys..... BIGGGGGGGGGGG difference. Also, he was a proven head coach - can you Vol fans honestly say the same for Dooley?

Our WR, DL, OC, and OL coaches are all straight out of the NFL. Our QB coach also has NFL experience.

Both good hires, RISKY, but good. I guess UF was becoming a Mid-Major when it hired Urban. Other than Lame, I wasd not aware all coaches started off coaching in the big leagues.

I think the OP is just flaming yal, but let's not make these comparisons.

Meyer -

22-2 at Utah - 2 conference champs and 1 BCS Bowl
17-6 at Bowling Green

Total before Florida - 39-8 with 2 conference championships and a BCS Bowl

Dooley - 17-20 as HC

If UT is a mid-major for hiring small time coaches what was Florida when they hired Meyer?

Utah>>>>>La. Tech

However, I really think the Dooley hire was a good one.

I'm not saying it's a done deal yet with the recent trends. But this and the Chuck Smith hires are the only two that get me excited. Dooley is fine now, but he still didn't pop with me at first.

Wilcox and BSU's defense looked real aggresive in that last bowl game. They attack the flat routes and blitz aggressively while hiding them as well. He seems to run a 4-3 but will throw in some 3-4 and 4-2-5. I'm not saying the defense is impeccable as they seem to have lapses every now and then. But I'm excited.

Then again, just like everything else, you still need to take a wait and see approach in the SEC.

Will not be on staff next year. No I can't think of his name right now, but he was Memphis' OC last year.
