take a look at how vt got into the acc in the first place and then get back to us.

Tech should've never been included. That's my opinion. I think Gerald Meyers bullied people to get in. Coog High had just come off disgrace with Jenkins deal, Hoffheinz was empty, so they weren't coming. SMU didn't have any sports, baseball etc, that contributed. TCU was the logical choice over Tech but they cowarded to Tech for no reason.
The one school that fits in Big XII is New Mexico, but they will never get the invite.

Anyone else wish it was just 10 for football?

Everyone would play each other, plus enough for a good ooc game and 2 cream puffs.

VA Tech slots right behind UGA, right in front of Alabama ( the 70's) in the academic rankings
Top two SEC
Vandy @ 17
Florida @ 58
lowest two SEC

again, i dont see what point you are making.
VTs academic ranking or enrollment size has nothing to do with its inclusion into the SEC

Because you have to match academically, especially when it comes to grants research etc.

For inclusion into the B1G, sure. Not the SEC. SEC doesnt share research money like B1G does.
If Mike Slive thought Boise State would add a market to the SEC and give the conference an advantage in upcoming contracts/network negotiations, you better believe Boise would get an invite.

Why should the SEC be hasty?
If the Big 12 takes 2(FSU/Clemson), or 4 FSU/Clemson/VT/Louisville that would gut the ACC.
That may make UNC/UVA available. shrug. UNC is a much bigger prize than nc state.
And if the big 10 took 2 Maryland and GT, you could rest assured at that point it would be every school for itself as no one would want to be left in BE II.
But I doubt VT would go to the Big 12 initially anyway. Not until the sec said no or the acc lost a lot more than just FSU and clemson. So i am not sure slive "settles" for nc state without waiting for UNC at least a year.
UVA is going to big 10. No way it would ever go SEC. And UVA would be snapped up by the Big 10 in a heartbeat, ahead of Terps and GT. To the big 10
prizes are ND UNC/UVA md/gt.
Duke would give up football before being in the same conference as Ole Miss and Miss state.

VaTech won't go anywhere without Virginia. Their state govt. won't let it happen.
LOL. Yeah. That's what people were saying about UT not "allowing" aTm to go anywhere either. Let me explain it this way. When a state sees a way for their school to get an additional $25,000,000.00+ a year they will allow whatever they want, the other school be damned.

The funny thing is, the two schools we probably won't have access to (UNC & UVA) are a waaaaay better fit culturally than NCST and VT. I work in Raleigh, and as most know, it is obviously not a college town and definitely does not have an SEC feel to it . Nothing is centralized, it's a big clusterfrick. Stadium is a bitch to get to (off of I-40), the only "college bars" are on Hillsborough St (they are nothing special), and the stadiums/campus/college bar scene could not possibly be less centralized.
Chapel Hill reminds me so much of Athens and Charlottesville is extremely comparable to Oxford IMO. Both Chapel Hill and Charlottesville are amazing college towns and would be phenomenal additions in a cultural aspect.
eta: Oh, and UNC and UVA girls are fine as hell . State girls are meh, and I've never been to Blacksburg so .

Besides, I wouldn't mind Virginia being in the SEC. That is a damn good school.
although UVA is a good school there is no way two schools from the same state will be added to the SEC. As a buisness model building on marketshare that would be stupid.
