Kind of like Texas is underachieving now? Or kind of like LSU underachieved pre-saban? The sport is cyclical, and our biggest problem was that the last time we were truly on top we didn't win a national title, and actually were placed on sanctions. We have a fine history that's plagued recently by two bad hires. That's it.

Not one breathing human has witnessed A&M win a national championship in men's football, baseball or basketball. I'm sorry but that is not a "fine history". Accept it for what it is and move on.

They cling to the "we are the best fans in the country". That's really the distinguishing factor. Other than the recruiting smack "which will finally matter THIS year", they seem pretty realistic about their athletic programs.

When it comes down to it, how successful a team's program comes down to championships. Texas A&M hasn't done anything in that department in the Big 3

LSU has the same number of national titles in those sports as anyone not named Alabama or Vanderbilt does since A&M joined the SEC.
