i don't think it would be hard to win at state with the right offense. the defense we got now could win at just about any school in the conference.

I think the offense y'all have would work with the right players. I think that is really where the problem originates, y'all don't have the right players. Recruiting against Ole Miss/Bama/Auburn/LSU while on probation I think hurt you guys a ton (not that Ole Miss has apparently benefited) which makes it difficult to win with the offense you have. Having said that, Croom and the Offensive Staff should be able to see that and make appropriate adjustments.

None. And not many colleges if any run it either. It takes professionals years to master it. Image trying to teach it to college kids who have to deal with class and limited practice time. It just isn't going to work. Croom needs to switch to spread option this off season or get forced out.

You're exactly right. SHOULD be able to see that and make adjustments. Yet MSU keeps running the same craptastic offense and somehow hasn't been able to check in above #100 among D-1 offensive rankings for the last five years.

Yet he is a great coach who has MSU headed in the right direction. Of course opposing fans say this because they want to keep that easy W on their schedules.

I don't care what people say.

Anywhere else in the country and a .350 winning percentage (17-33, 7-26 in conference) with losses to Maine, UAB, Tulane, LA Tech, Houston, etc would not be tollerated.

Excuse little ol' MSU for thinking they deserve better.

i agree with man. hell we went to atlanta in 1998. if croom was hired at bama he would've been fired pretty quick if he kept having losing records like he's had at state.

He should keep his job forever. No one can convince these kids to go and play in that shite hole called starkvegas. There isn't shite to do. Thats why they will remain terrible to mediocre at best. The powers that be at State need to realize its a dump and be happy they even have a university there, much less a football team.

Croom doesn't need to be fired. He needs to fire McCorvey-sp, and go hire a REAL OC. Where is Al Borges at these days? Also, when was the last time State had a decent/good QB commit? Madkin? I think Fant was pretty good coming out of Moss Point. They need a good QB in the worse way to run that Gulf Coast offense.

McCorvey needs to scrap that shitty offense THIS YEAR, and put another good TB/athlete at QB and run the fricking Nebraska option or Wilcat. They need a spark.

State fans, i have a question. I heard a rumor that the state board is seriously looking at a black candidate for MSU President to lead the university. If he gets the job, how hard will it be to fire Croom if his teams get worse for the next couple of years?

so what do you want the school to do? move to tunica or build some strip clubs on campus? from what i hear there isn't much to do in auburn but they seem to field a pretty good football team every year right? i don't get why people dog starkville but i'm sure most that do have never been there.

Starkville isn't that bad, it's in BFE, but so are alot of SEC schools except LSU, Vandy, and Florida. As for being the shithole of Mississippi, you obviously have never been to Greenville, Rolling Fork, or anywhere in the Delta.

Firing Croom would be up there with Ole Piss firing Cutcliff.

Anyone who thinks either of those 2 can actually compete in the League no matter who the coach is is deranged.

Here's a Croom quote. "I’m the offensive coordinator. Whenever a change needs to be made and somebody feels like I need to be changed, then it is what it is."

MSU Clarion Ledger Blog

Basically what he's saying is he has complete control of the offense. McCorvey is a figurehead. He is QB coach, associate head coach and OC in title only. Now he definately is worthless and needs to be fired (instead of given a raise and extension like he got this offseason), but Croom could bring in Lane Kiffen to be OC and it wouldn't matter. Croom would overrule all his calls just like he does McCorvey's.

Croom is taunting MSU administration, fans, etc because he thinks he's untouchable and bigger than MSU. Hopefully our new AD will hold his arse to the fire over the W-L record and demand some results.

It's definately in MSU's intrest to keep Croom and bring in a good OC, but it won't happen. Croom is too stubborn, err, resolute. Croom is great from a national PR prospective, but he makes terrible gameday deciscions, has no offensive vision, and is a control freak.

that's just him standing up for McCorvey, showing he takes it for the team bravado type bullshite, believe me, Crooms was a offensive lineman, his creative genius is okay "boys let's hand it off to Ducre and the other guy, I wanna see a lot of dust today". you'd really be pissed then.
