Once again we think alike. 2011 AU and 2004 LSU were two of my fondest memories ever in Sanford Stadium because I had also been at 2010 Auburn and 2003 LSU in Atlanta

Well it's true. Contrary to what y'all think, cfb did start before 2000.

I didn't say I wouldn't be upset. I can't imagine how upset I'd be if bama lost a nc, as it's not happened in my lifetime. Just loling at you saying its not fair.

The point remains that lsu was in that game too. They had every chance to win that bama did. It was a 60 minute game on a 100 yard field played 11v11, an hour from the lsu campus to boot

Well, I don't have any connection to Oregon, but we've had some damn good games against ND.

Yeah LSU was really terrible prior to 2000

Sure they said we'd rather play notre dame. But that was before Oregon lost. The two aren't comparable. Notre dame was undefeated.

Be srs, you think Bama fans wanted to play because of some games during the disco era and before over half of this board was born or because they knew Oregon was the tougher challenge?

And why am I not surprised you're in here white-knighting for them again?

I'm not even really trying to say it is or isn't fair. Just saying it was really shitty thing to have happen against Alabama of all teams and that we owe you. Not sure how that's controversial

Despite my putrefying disgust at any and all things Alabama, the above statement holds true. I didn't see one lick of pride in the second half. At least Russell tackled the Bama player he pitched it to.

A few of us have a grasp of history. For instance when Spurrier brought UF their first CC (that counted) LSU already had 7. But I agree, a lot of cut and paste goes on.

I remember a lot of "There's a lot of history between the schools " and a bunch of "We owe them back from the 70s " all over the board.

But an LSU fan says that about them and they are all up in arms

That's a debt, that's not necessary to repay. We can leave things as is.

They got screwed because of ND in 66, they lost to them in the title game in 73, and they got screwed again by them in 77.

If you put it that way, not controversial at all. I was responding to your objection that it happens all the time in sports which is true. I'm sure it was devastating; I read your posts/this board, I know it was. But it was fair.

that's a separate point and I can argue that but it is what it is and nothing is going to change what happened so I don't have any interest in wasting another hour of my life going back and forth about on a message board so we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.

My eyeball says Oregon would have waxed Notre Dame. I'm sure the entire country thought the same. Isn't that what it's all about? What the eyeball thinks?
