Baseball sucks more than the shape Florida's defense is in.

I don't know what I'll think of the offense; I'm not going to judge it after seeing one game of it when we have freshmen QB staring his first career game against UFs defense.

Obviously scrambling around for a few seconds and running for 3 yard gains in the 2nd half isn't going to cut it, but I'd like to think that with maturity he'll be more confident throwing the ball down the field and keeping D's honest.

I used the correct term in exactly the context it was intended to be used.

quote:

A quick pitch in baseball occurs when the pitcher throws a pitch to home plate before the batter has had a chance to fully ready himself. It is not illegal.

I hated the spread even when Tebow was here. It sucks to watch. It's not very fun if you don't have special athletes to run it and if you don't SEC defenses eat it up.

I know yours isn't the "spread" but it's similar.

You will grow weary of it I think.

It's his first fricking football game geez. He didnt have a warm up game and so not only did they not want him airing it out, i am sure he was hesitant to make certain throws against such a speedy team in his first college outing EVER. The coaches see a ton of potential in him and contrary to what everyone thinks, he DOES NOT have a weak arm. That Florida D is a TOUGH TOUGH first challenge for any rookie QB...especially in the first fricking game. He'll be alright...anyone who knows anything about football had to be pretty impressed with the freshman.

From the MLB Rules instead of Wikipedia

quote:

Rule 8.05(e) Comment: A quick pitch is an illegal pitch. Umpires will judge a quick pitch as one delivered before the batter is reasonably set in the batter?s box. With runners on base the penalty is a balk; with no runners on base, it is a ball. The quick pitch is dangerous and should not be permitted. (f) The pitcher delivers the ball to the batter while he is not facing the batter; (g) The pitcher makes any motion naturally associated with his pitch while he is not touching the pitcher?s plate;

The best parallel is a fast break offense in basketball. And that's a pretty easy comparison to make. Now I'm done with that terrible derail

Don't know if he'll ever be a great QB because I personally question his delivery and arm strength, but he'd be deadly in open space as a WR in the slot.

You started it (by making fun of a relatively simple and straight-forward analogy).

Those pussies totally dominated you in the 2nd half though.

It's football. The offense has to be set before they can snap the ball. They have to allow the defense time for substitutions if they make any, that's why there's a 45 second play clock.

It's a bad idea to game plan around something that is against the spirit of the game. If you want to out condition your opponent go play soccer.

There will always be breaks in play due to injury, time outs, TV commercials, etc. If I'm a defensive coordinator the last thing I'm going to let you do is score a touchdown because my defense is tired and it's preventable.

My favorite part of teams like Oregon that run the spread offense is what a terrible position they put their defense in after they score on a 30 second drive, then turn around and have a 30 second 3 and out.

The unit that suffers the most from a fast paced offense is the defense...

I wouldn't say "dominated". It's more like they sucked less.

That would be "shapeless pussies" that dominated A&M.

Somebody disregarding S&C in football sounds like someone who never played a down of football in their life

But I agree that if that's the way to slow an offense down and there's no rule penalizing it, then do it. Whatever it takes to win. We still played like shite in the second half and deserved to lose

You'd figure if you held an offense to five straight 3 and outs that you would score more than 10 points...in other words, you sucked LESS.
