I dig what you saying however those awards are post senior year. Barret Jones is returning after winning the Outland as a Junior.

I think Jevan Snead is the most extreme example. I don't even understand what happened to him.

The point was both were highly touted that could have went as Juniors and both improved stock by coming back for Senior Years....2 LSU greats

I thought Dorsey dropped a little because of that ridiculously dirty chop block he sustained in the Auburn game. Am I imagining that or did I just expect it so much that I never really updated my brain when it didnt happen?

Understood, the LSU kids were very good as Juniors. I was disputing the earlier claim that player X returning was an example of a returning highly touted player when often player X was only touted entering college with 5 stars

Agree

don't know what Masoli's expectations were before he left Oregon,
I don't think he had an NFL option after his Junior year (eligibility).

Seems like an obvious example was Mallett for high expectations...A lot of the same things I see that are said for Wilson were certainly said about Mallet. What were his draft expectations in 2010?

Ricky Williams of Texas. Most thought he would leave after his junior season, but he came back and went on to set the all-time rushing record (albeit short-lived) and win the Heisman Trophy as a senior.

He's a really good example. What about Colt McCoy? He obviously had a great regular season his last year at Texas. He missed out on the Heisman, which I remember was disappointing, and I don't know how much his injury hurt him in the draft. Was his junior year considered more successful?

I recall McCoy's junior season being better than his senior year, but I don't think he was ever really considered a top-flight NFL prospect.

Junior year:

Att 433 Comp 332 76.7% 3,859 yards 34 TD 8 INT

173.75 Rating

Rushing: 136 att 561 yds 11 TD's

Senior season:

Att 470 Comp 332 70.6% 3,521 tds 27 TD 12 INT

147.41 Rating

Rushing: 129 att 348 yds 3 TD's

Nebraska's Jared Crick was expected to replace Ndamukong Suh as the next dominant defensive lineman in Lincoln. However,in his senior year Crick failed to meet expectations, got injured and will be lucky to land in the 2nd round of the 2012 draft.'

I just don't think Wilson's extra year of experience would have made them remarkably improved over last year, even if Petrino had stayed. I can't get a handle on Barkley and USC. I thought they were a little overrated last year by the media, and their lack of depth will start to show if someone gets hurt.

So, the moral of the story is if you have the chance to get away from Houston Nutt as a QB, take it.

Jonathan Banks will have this kinda press after this year. People are gonna see why he came back for his senior season this year.
