That fricking list is completely out of wack. No way in hell are Hawaii, West Virgina, Iowa and a few of the others ahead of Louisiana

In the REAL world, the list would be:

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. Georgia
4. Alabama
5. Louisiana
6. Mississippi
7. Ohio
8. Nebraska
9. West Virginia
10. Iowa

No way Tenn belongs in the top 10.

Alabama wins out because we really don't have big cities like New Orleans or Atlanta. So, pretty much the only cool thing we got going on all year long is football. we got no pro teams...nothing... just Alabama and Auburn. that's it.

and by God.. we're proud of it.

RTR (it's one thing i can say i'm damn proud of as far as having Auburn down there. we -love- football.)

The only state that could legitmately be put in front of Alabama is Texas simply because they are just as crazy about football and Texas is a biggers state. Oklahoma could bet put at 3rd. I think Georgia has too much else going on to be in the top 5. Florida should be in the top 5. Louisiana should also be up towards the top.

I think you just nailed the premise of this poll to a T. It's not about tradition, prestige, talent base. It's about how that state's population centers around college football compared to other events.

There are areas the size of Alabama within TX that have more rabid fans than Alabama.

We are talking football, correct. . .or college football only?

I said this in the OT it is based on how many people post about football on facebook not exactly a legitimate source...

But TX has several different pro teams to split fan participation.

Per capita, i doubt many state's population are centered around CFB than Bama/MS.

I find it hard to believe Mississippi is that high seeing as their two biggest football programs suck.
