Bitching and moaning about missing the playoff or expanding the playoff is one thing.
But skipping a bowl game when you are one of the few non playoff teams that people actually want to see is another.

Everyone who posts about Notre Dame or downvotes, I won't say you are missing the point, you are missing MY point.
I am saying what Notre Dame did transcends their team, the whole of college football is broken and what they did shines the light on it.
Okay, you don't like what they did but they are not the problem, all they did was take a stand and say playing by YOUR rules whoever YOU are doesn't cut it anymore and this I agree with.
As long as self serving money grubbers run the show the show is going to go to hell.
It is long past time for the teams, the product we all want to see, to wrest back some semblance of control and bring a little sanity to college football.
Ultimately what Notre Dame did is going to bring change and let's hope it is finally for the better instead of this downhill slide the sport has been on for the last 20 years.

the bigger problem is the committee allowing G5 auto bids. That’s what has damaged the sport the most
They allow the top 5 conf Champs an auto-bid. In a P4-ish world, yes, a G5 essentially gets a de facto spot.
The auto-bids are the problem outright.
A BCS ranking system (human/computer polling) and letting the chips fall where they may is the way to go.
This was discussed ad nausem when they expanded to 4. The 5-7 teams would cry. When they expanded to 12, the 13-16 teams would cry. But, they made a worse problem creating a situation with auto-bids they may/have bumped out more qualified 10-12 teams.
No auto-bids.
Stop the polling at the regular season.
Let conference championships be just about conference pride. Or, get rid of them.
Seed in the CFP in the order of final rankings to whatever # that is. No one gives a shite if a Tulane or JMU makes the playoff outside of their fans bases.

If a top 10 team throughout the CFP ranking does not play in the playoffs, it's a foul system. There is not a team, school, or conference that would not have the same bewilderment of the system if it affected them.

Lol. Why is Alabama replaying OU? Why is Ole Miss replaying Tulane. Don't kill the value of the regular season.
I will agree with you if the value of the regular season means only conference champions and top independent team go to a natty playoff.

Because we let too many teams in the playoff.
