Why cancel it when you can easily just move the game to another location?. My deepest sorrows goes to any lives lost in the storm but if you want to cancel the LSU game due to that then they need to cancel the entire week 1 of college football. Not just the LSU game. It's really not a big deal to just relocate the game.

Classiest and most logical LSU fan post about this topic ever.

Congrats sir.

You'd think you guys would be the most sympathetic to storms and damage caused them. But no, you're wishing storms on Floridians...

An LSU troll said that he wished I got fricked in the storm here in Houston. That's how sick fanatical fans are (not just LSU ones).

I think it is sad that some people have their priorities so misplaced. Football is not as important as people's lives. Cancelling a game is not the end of the world. Sadly, some people here in Houston have had their worlds cancelled today.

Thinking back to Katrina, why do some LSU fans here use the excuse that you still played the AZ game and had contingency planes? The Hurricane event was damn near 2.5 weeks before that game. Of course you had time to make contingencies. There was plenty of time to make decisions. No one knows what's going to happen here in Houston. But it is pretty clear to me that the game cannot be played here as we are going to get water for the next week. They have to cancel or move it today.

As far as Florida last year, there was little time in that event as well. No one knew what would/could happen days leading to the game. It looked good, then it didn't look good, then it looked good again but no emergency personnel would be available. Why some of you can't see that the timing to make contingencies in that event was not nearly as good as Katrina, so please stop comparing.

Add to that when you have these types of events, players and coaches families are affected. I think it is very insensitive to play a game the same week people are losing lives, houses, cars, everything they own. How do you expect people in the city to travel when all the roads and airports are closed???

Because when LSU explained how it worked with Tennessee after Rita, keep the venue, just move the game to Monday night if the coast was clear, unlike the Vols, the gators pussed out.

LSU was prepared to do the same thing for Florida that UT did for LSU.

BTW, LSU did lose a home game because of Florida's intransigence and incompetence.

You just fricked them up with some truth.

But they'll still try to bend your words and say that there was ample time to move the game cause, YOU SAW THE STORM COMING, HELLO.

We did everything we could to make the game happen. Why would we move to Baton Rouge a week out and then watch the storm not even touch Florida? That's dumb.

The prospects were decent until a couple of days before, but by that time it was too late, and fortunately the storm veered a little at the end, as it could have damaged the coast way more than it did.

But don't tell LSU fans that, they just want their damn football and throw logic out the door.

The safety of people during these situations are first and foremost, just because a few kids make irresponsible posts on a message board it does not represent the sentiments of the entire LSU fan base

What are the realistic options to move the game to in your onion?

I think in this case it may be easy to relocate the game BUT it is still a big deal. People have already made plans to come to Houston, Paid money for flights, hotels, party events, etc. It is difficult economically for many to have to buy additional tickets at the last minute to Utah or some other place.

Then you have to think of how it looks for a school like UH. Should they play a football game in San Antonio (that may also get more flooding) while many people in their city are suffering? How can they celebrate a victory while their students are repairing their lives? They could also be putting their students in harms way as some of them may try to drive to SA to go to the game. The roads may be inhabitable for many. I really think that the local schools should cancel. Why take the risk just for a football game? You can always play it later or just forget about it. Football will go on, but you cannot recover lives lost.

Contingencies were in place after Katrina, and the venue was changed.
Contingencies were in place for Hurricane Rita, and the game was moved to Monday night. Contingencies were in place for flooding in South Carolina and the venue was changed. Contingencies coul not be negotiated for Hurricane Matthew. One thing in common for all those games was LSU.

The difference was clearly Florida.

Alleva offered to play in Tiger Stadium, he offered to play in Gainesville in an empty stadium, he offered to play in Gainesville on Monday, he offered other stadiums.

Foley's answer was no, no, no, no, no.

The problem was Florida. No amount of flaming from a bunch of shitbirds on this website can rewrite that.

I imagine BYU will be more like South Carolina and Arizona than Florida, and be willing to renegotiate.

Judging from the current projected path the Superdome looks to be a viable option but,I'm not particularly confident in that city handling this considered the events of the recent past.

Houston at UTSA is already scheduled for 7PM Eastern. You don't just get to kick a team out of its stadium because you want to play there.

LSU offered to postpone the game to Monday - IN GAINESVILLE, like we did after Rita. If UF had agreed, it would have been clear by then.

Foley canceled the game prematurely after refusing to consider any options. "The game will be played Saturday in Gainesville" he kept saying, right up until he canceled it. He was intransigent, unlike ASU, UT, USCe, and now BYU.

No spinning this one, gators, you are the odd man out.

And LSU thinks they're the good guy and the victim in all of this....

Because every weather event is different. What worked for LSU/UT may not work for LSU/UF. Why do you assume that LSU should run the show and tell everyone how it works? You are obviously misguided without a leg to stand on as your excuse for UF moving the game was "Gators pussed out", which had nothing to do with any decision made. Stop being stupid.

Benefiting from hurricanes? Like we benefited when Katrina and Rita hit?
