That's my point. As was Sidney this last season. By your logic Sidney has gotten better because he worked with John Lucas. This is the same John Lucas that effectively meddled enough in his son's affairs at Florida that it resulted in his transfer to a team with another coach that traditionally underachieves with his talent (see this year's draft). And frankly, John Lucas can't hold his hand during the season when he pitches a fit when his teammates don't play nice.

So needless to say, it's going to take more than throwing around John Lucas' name to convince me he'll magically get over his shite to become something decent under an underachieving coach like Stansbury.

As far as Davis, he may not play back to the basket but the kid is an incredible shot-blocker who can play above the rim. He'll be fine even if he's not your prototypical banger.

As much as Sidney was criticized, most people who didn't follow our program didn't realize that he averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in only 25mpg.

For most SEC big men that is good numbers but for Sidney he got criticized all season long.

Don't waste your time.. He probably defended Croom until the day he was fired. He wouldn't know a good or bad coach if one bit him in the arse.

I hated Sylvester Croom with a passion. He was the worst coach in SEC history in my opinion. All he wanted to do was ride around in his golf cart and leave the coaching up to assistants.

Name a couple if you can? I honestly dont think that the Mississippi State basketball job is very attractive to coaches and I dont think we can find anybody better than Stans. That's my argument and Im sticking to it.

This sort of defeatist attitude by our fan base is why we will never be a top program.

I don't have a list of top assistants or mid major coaches handy, but I'm sure there are several qualified candidates who would be upgrades. No, State isn't an attractive job, but it isn't like you couldn't find someone. Bama isn't exactly an attractive job either, but I think we made an upgrade from Gottfried.

How many games did he actually play? Wasn't he out majority of the season?

Kind of difficult to compare average stats when he played something like 10+ games less than everyone else at his position.

He played in 21 games including all 16 SEC games.

Which is 10+ games less than everyone else at his position.

Kinda skews the average numbers when you're playing a third less games then everyone else.

I think him playing in more games would hurt your argument. He would have a higher average in all categories if he would have played all season due to the fact our OOC opponents suck.

I don't think it would have. That fat bastard would have had full-season full-body cramps if he had to play anymore.

+1

Usually SEC games bring players' stats down due to tougher competition than the OOS teams.

Oh, he's recruiting like a mf'er right now- he was put on notice that there is some grumbling and his job security wasnt what it once was.

But it still comes down to his lack of discipline and terrible coaching decisions at crunch time- and why we wont EVER make a Sweet 16 under him.

Bundy's copout question of "who could we get that's better?"- is just that- a copout. People said that shite about Crooms. Bobby Bowden was Fla State's winningest coach too- but they allowed him to coach 5 years too long.

If you are happy being decent every year- Stands is your man.

If you want to have a good program, we need to go in another direction.

We have been good in basketball 3 of the last 5 decades- Bundy acts like basketball didnt exist before Stands. We are in the top half of the SEC in conference titles. Our program doesnt suck.

I NEVER once said our program sucked, actually said it was one of the top 4 over the past 15 years.

I just said that our job is not a desirable job for young up and coming head coaches or assistants at top programs like Duke, UNC, ect

Considering Florida who win 2 titles in that span and Kentucky one of the all time winningest programs of all time are ahead of us doesn't make my comment that laughable.
