You'll have a chance to win if you are within one score in the 4th quarter? Where do you guys come up with this cutting edge analysis? Do you have access to some sort of advanced stats that the rest of us don't have?

The one thing I took away from Bama game was when lsu lined up in shotgun. Read option worked the only few times they ran it. Think this plays to state perfectly. Just don't how much room Bama will give state.

This.

Should be a fun game to watch, best QB in the SEC against the best defense in the SEC. Preperation is key.

Anyone who actually watched it saw Alabama control the enter game start to finish and the game was never in doubt in the 4th quarter.

I see Bama fans post this BS all the time. With 10 mins left in the 4th Q- Bama up 6- they faced 3rd and long 3 times on that last TD drive. If State stops one of those- State gets the ball with a chance to go ahead

The game was very much in doubt in the 4th Q

State has played an incredibly weak schedule to this point. The toughest teams have been LSU, (loss) A&M, (loss) and Auburn. (barely won)

The sledding will become significantly more difficult on Saturday--especially with Bama's eye on the prize.

Reasons why I think we win:
We give up a lot of yards but not a lot of points. Henry will get his but have to contain the big play. Our wide receivers should also get theirs and we are at home. We have Dak and he is better than Coker. We don't give up TDs in the 4th quarter.

Reasons we don't win
We let teams jump out on us in the first quarter. We tend to come out in big games and be very timid the first half. Alabamans front seven is bad arse. Henry is going to get his.

Agree, but once we scored that TD Mullen decided it was a better strategy to accept losing and score a TD to cut it to single digits than try and win the game and risk losing by 20.

The argument is in response to people using the final score as some sort of proof the game was a one score game. It was a one score game for about 5 minutes early-mid 4th. Then it wasn't again until the game was over.

My main thought on this is nobody really knows how good State really is. Their schedule has been very bad and they haven't proven anything against any good teams.

That doesn't mean that can't on Saturday, but unlike last year when they had already beaten 2-3 pretty solid teams, this team has feasted on really really bad opponents for their wins.

If Mullen and MSU couldn't beat us last year, I just don't think they ever will as long as Saban is around. Truth is, they get us every year at one of our most vulnerable spots on our schedule - the week after LSU. A couple of times, they've even had a bye week if I'm not mistaken.

Add to it this MSU team not being as good as last year's, and Bama's defense being much better than last year's. Yes, Dak is probably better this year than last, but it seems every other unit has regressed or stayed about the same. I just don't see MSU being able to score enough points on offense, so unless we turn the ball over a bunch, which is possible, this looks like a 2 score win for Bama.

And I'm basing my impression of MSU off the only two games I've watched them this season - Auburn and A&M. They didn't look all that impressive in either one to me.

State playing Bama on the road last year and at home this year are two very different things. State is much better on D this year- plus Prescott and the WR's are better. State may not win Saturday- but it's going to be a close game in Sville

Based on what, exactly? You are giving up less points so far, yes. You have also played a terrible schedule and given up yards and pts in bunchs to the one conference team on that schedule so far that scores any points (A&M). This is opponent adjusted

Mississippi State Defense - 2014 (per S&P adv stats)
#27 Overall
#56 Rushing
#13 Passing

Mississippi State Defense - 2015
#37 Overall
#58 Rushing
#34 Passing

I guess I'll have to take your word for it. They didn't look better than last year's in the two games I watched, but I admit that is a very limited sample.

State has drastically reduced the number of big plays they have allowed this year and is one of the best in the country in the red zone.

It's no doubt a better D

Again, you have played these offenses

#48 - Southern Miss
#12 - LSU
N/A - Northwestern St
#51 - Auburn
#41 - Texas A&M
#90 - Troy
#20 - La Tech
#101 - Kentucky
#125 - Missouri

I mean, not exactly a ton of explosive squads there outside of maybe La Tech and A&M I guess?

So basically another case of "if we play the game of our lives and Bama makes mistakes all over the field, we have a great shot at winning".

I feel really good about this game too. Bama just played the jugglernuts that is LSU and are propbably a bit tired. They will likely come into StarkVegas overlooking our Dawgs; too worried about Charleston Southern air raiding BDS the next weekend.
