Just the rankings at the time the game was played.
If we schedule at preseason top 10 team, can you fault us if they don't turn out as good? Also, Bama beating their arse usually has a lot to do with that too.

Bama does every year.
It was only 6 years ago that you played Duke as your BCS OOC opponent, pretty sure they weren't ranked. You didn't even play one the year before.
Conversely, I can think of maybe one time FSU wasn't ranked when we played them. Hell if we go by preseason rankings, they are always a top 10 team.

You're mistaken on that.
Six years ago (2007) we played Florida State.
The year we played Duke, we also played Penn State. Duke wasn't our only BCS OOC.

Like I said... there are no preseason or week 1 BCS rankings.
As a matter of fact, there are no final BCS rankings either (after bowl games).
Are you bragging about beating a Michigan team in 2012 that shouldn't have been ranked in the BCS formula after their bowl loss?

Ok, 7 years ago, in 2006, you only played Duke. 2005, you played nobody.

And no.
Penn State wasn't ranked in 2011 (preseason or post season). And they weren't ranked at the end of the year in 2010, either.
Fail.

The fact that you have to go all the way back to the Shula years to find an example of something many other SEC schools have done much more recently, well that just proves my point

You haven't realized that teams with big matchups get preseason pushes?
It helps the TV ratings.
It's not rocket science. It's marketing.
ESPN does it. Not me.

You sound pretty clueless for having so many posts.
Do you understand the permanent opponent rule with regard to SEC scheduling?

Was it Penn State's win over Indiana State that propelled them to the top 25?
Or the fact that they played Bama on TV?
What conference is Indiana State in anyway? I haven't a clue.

This has to be one of the dumbest things people say. Who gives a flying frick what they were ranked when you played them. What were they ranked at the end, very end of the season?
Ranked when we played them means nothing.

Please tell me what season that some other team got screwed because Alabama played Tennessee?

naivete
it's public knowledge that big games get bumps in the polls to help TV ratings.
Is Clemson a top 10 team? Well... they are since they have a season opener at home against UGA.

Ranked when we played them means nothing.
We are talking about scheduling? SCHEDULING
This isn't a fricking argument about quality wins. This is an argument about one school, before a season begins, scheduling to play another school.
HOW THE frick WOULD THEY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT POSTSEASON RANKINGS
You are such a fricking moron.
