A local newspaper columnist says Spurrier has too much power, so to prove him wrong, the coach decides to show how powerful he is and force the paper to fire him. Spurrier needs to STFU and coach football. He shouldn't be trying to tell the press what they can and cannot write about him.

Sounds like the columnist may have a point.

The guy compared Spurrier's situation to Penn State. I don't blame him one bit.

Spurrier needs to worry about coaching his team, not calling shots for local newspaper

OBC is coming off like a huge thin skinned loser over this.
Dude can dish but clearly can't take any heat.

the guy made a bad analogy that he apologized for.
even with how clumsy and poor the analogy was, the gist of the his point was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

A journalist defending another journalist. Shocking.

What a crybaby bitch. I would love it if he just up and quit because of some reporter right before this Saturday's game would be an opportune time!

He has pretty much always been that way.

You're an idiot.

Even a fish would stay out of trouble if he keeps his mouth shut.

Have you missed Saban berating the press because he didn't like what they had to say?

Ron used his freedom of the press and freedom of speech and now Steve is using his.
I don't see the problem.

Nope. I didn't say he should always play nice and never disagree with what was written. Debate, discourse, disagreement is all part of the arrangement. No one said he had to like it or even pretend that he liked it. That's altogether different than trying end the man's career and trying to literally control what he can and cannot write. You can complain about it all you want. But when you disregard the First Amendment, then, yes, there's a problem. I take my rights seriously. Politicians shouldn't be able to control what the media (or you and I) can say. Football coaches damn sure shouldn't be able to do that. When they can, you do get situations like Penn State. It was a bad analogy, but, basically, that's the point. Football coaches should coach football, not dictate what a free press has to say about it. There is a HUGE difference.

Ron was trying to mess with Steve's career, and now Steve is trying to mess with Ron's.
I don't see the problem.

why dont you stop for a second and think before you call somebody and idiot?
His point clearly flew over right your head just as it apparently did with OBC b/c all you hear are the words Penn State and you freak out.
he wasnt saying OBC was going to do something like that.
he was saying HCs having so much power that nobody can question them is a bad thing b/c it can lead to terrible decisions that consider football first over student welfare.
this most recent flare up with Morris started b/c the guy dared to wonder if it was a bad decision to let Conner Shaw play a couple weeks ago in a gimmie game. OBC tried to cut off all press access over that.
like I said, using PSU was a bad analogy but his underlying message is true and OBC trying to get the guy fired for daring to critique him proves it.
