Suit yourself but it is the University of South Carolina.....hence the U in USC. In terms of answering the lame troll attempts by lame trolls, it's a pointless declaration to make, because they'll simply say that Southern Cal is called "SC" as well.....

programs should receive the acknowledgement they deserve. I'm not going to write off clemson considering they've carried the banner for football in South Carolina for many many years

Be honest though, how many people would think South Carolina before Southern Cal when they hear USC?
It's almost like hearing FSU and thinking Fresno St before Florida St.

Do you really need a response to this? Is this not a rhetorical question?
If the thread of discussion was regarding the Mountain West Conference on a MWC-specific forum, and someone posted FSU without first explaining that somehow they were referring about Florida State, and a reader mistook the FSU to be Florida State, then that reader would be a moron. Same if it was a ACC thread topic on a ACC-specific board, and the FSU was mistaken to mean Fresno State....
This thread topic is about a SEC program posted on SEC Rant.....the thread title specifically has "Spurrier" in it: Spurrier has had no affiliation whatsoever to Southern Cal. If you confuse the USC to mean University of Southern California right off the bat, then you sir are a moron.....

It's all based on context, and requires a level of intelligence typically found at middle-school grade levels: if there were discussions of USC playing Notre Dame, or USC playing Stanford, or USC regarding Lane Kiffin. Things like that. Then anyone with half a brain would understand the USC in those cases to mean Southern Cal. Otherwise it's just a very obvious and weak attempt to jimmy-rustle...
