Fwiw I never once in the other thread tried to discredit any of those championships. The point was the rose bowl was not the game that determined the nc and did not pit the two best teams against each other. Those are points that a lot bama fans try to use as a basis of claiming them. If you were the best team in the country with the best record then you deserve it, but to use the rose bowl as the reason is an incorrect foundation of proving it.

I honestly think if whoever it is who decides which national titles to claim for Bama could go back, they wouldn't have claimed so many questionable ones. They have 9 that you can't argue against, yet they get so much crap for claiming everything possible that even those get questioned.
But they can't back down from what they claimed now, but I bet they wish they could (they won't admit that though I'm sure)

What is ridiculous is that it took the UPI 10 years to change the way they voted when the AP changed after the 64 season.
Alabama was awarded the UPI national championship. They won it by the rules and would be stupid to not count it.

In the NCAA's opinion. And since it's NCAA football, that's what matters.

That's the thing. We DON'T claim everything possible. I will point out my sig(It's not serious). So many people believe we claim a Title every time we have been named National Champs. If we actually did that, we would have 27 claims.
In response to our Rose Bowl years, yeah they can be deemed questionable, but so can every teams claims from the pre poll era. People spend too much time looking at our 4 Rose Bowls and trying to discredit them, that they fail to look at notre damn, michican, usc, and others that claim pre poll era Rose Bowl teams as National Champs
