I gave Harsin a chance to prove it on the field. I actually like him as a coach . But it is pretty obvious through the survey of his 15 games at Auburn, he is not a good fit there. His magic number at Auburn is 8 wins this year. That is still true. Auburn needs to be prepared for that not to happen.

To hell with Auburn football.
Let it burn and die.

Not me, I 100% support him standing up to that bullshite. I think it's the only thing I like about him.
quote:I think the overwhelming majority of the AU fanbase, myself included, was very supportive of the hire. A lot of the money men were not, but I don’t think there was a concerted effort to undermine him until after the season, when Nix transferred out, Mason left for Okie State, he screwed up his OC hire, and stumbled to the finish with the ‘22 recruiting class. That’s a lot to overlook to give someone a “fair shake”.
Aside from that, I don't really see how any Auburn fan can really claim he's been given a fair shake at the position. If Sabotage is too strong a word, ok - but Auburn sure doesn't seem to be helping him at all. Constant talk about being fired will just tank recruiting, Auburn fans being negative about him will tank recruiting, etc.
quote:So keeping a bad coach would have made AU a good program?
I already knew he was a bad coach. Auburn had just shown itself to be a bad program as well.
quote:No argument from me. But it will take an HC of Saban’s caliber to pull off a similar feat on the Plains. Unfortunately I don’t see anyone out there who fills the bill.
Best thing that ever happened to Alabama when Saban came is he got rid of that shite.

He’s due 70% of his remaining contract if fired. It would be between $15-16m.
As an Aggie fan this makes me kinda jealous.

I don’t know what to say. Auburn needs a HC. Auburn needs a AD. In order you hire the AD first, and then the HC. Auburn is just paying for someone that will never be. He knows that. Harsin couldn’t care less. He’s rich. Kick his arse off campus and fill in with a Interim now. Better yet. If you as a fan base want things done, call the office of Jimmy Rane. It’s going to take several thousand people but he will get the message.

What HC actually reports to the schools AD? What AD makes more than the HC? The AD does the day to day administration duties for a school, bigger decisions come from elsewhere.

There are tons of great coaches that people havent heard of yet. App States Coach and people like him, why go after these huge ego wierdo's like Gus or Haesin.

He don't give a shite what they think.

They were just hot coaches at the time. Gus had one year experience as a college HC and Harsin was a HC at Ark St and BSU. Both have really Ben eaten up by the SEC wear and tear. Kiffin failed at UT and USC, but his ego learned from that failure.

Yeah, but you made the hire you have to let it playout somewhat and let him make his own decisions. Saban went 7-6 and lost to ULM his first year, with things falling apart at the end more so than the start. And it's not like his coordinator hires were home runs. Neither of his 1st year coordinators were there the next year.
Imagine if Alabama money was like nah, frick you and then started trying to push Saban out, rather than letting him make the decisions he needed to make.
Now I don't think Harsin was ever going to do that, but you can't give a guy enough gas to run half a mile and then judge him based on a full mile run.
I think it'll bite Auburn with better coaches who still have options.

In terms of future hires, yes.
Probably one of the biggest reasons Texas never managed to steal Saban was because of the way they treated Mack Brown at the end. And that was just trying to backdoor a deal with Saban while Brown was still the HC, nothing like the program pulling support out from under them. Coaches with options notice that shite.

Well dumbass, if Auburn didn't care about football, Harsin would be safe and you would hear about his replacement in September. frick, some of you are too stupid to come up with your own conclusions and opinions.
I have no idea what the hell you are even arguing about or with who because I don't generally bother to read your posts anymore.
I just posted the image because you would never in a million years admit to being wrong, which makes it super funny. I would suggest you find a better comeback for the next time.

No, Saban didn't go to UT because he was not going to have 100% unquestioned authority there. He knows that is rare and did not want to take a chance. It is the only thing that has kept him at UA.

I agree with you he wasn’t given a fair chance at all. What took place hurt him and our program. He is setup to fail now and why I am mostly behind him not being the HC much longer. Not sure who we can bring in either, but he is a wounded project. His recruiting is abysmal and has had time to show some improvement there.
No team can win with out talented Jimmies and Joes.
I think Auburn fans will need to hunker down because winter is coming.
