Ya but I like the playoffs- it allows that #3 seed who has a legit argument a chance. #4 seed is just lucky and should be happy to be included. No expansion hopefully but they will eventually. Enjoy the 4 team playoff while it lasts - cfb won't be the same after they expand

How does it minimize the regular season any more than a system that allowed you to win a National title without even winning your division?
The talk about minimizing the season is objectively dumb. When the wildcard Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in the super bowl, did it minimize the regular season or become one of the best and most famous Super Bowls in history? Did anyone afterwards argue that the Patriots were the real champs bc NY never should have been in the playoffs? No. People loved it and it was great for the sport. Same when some small school makes a run in March madness each year. It's good for the school and sport.

Yes. It minimizes the regular season.
Well, according to Kirk Herstreit, conference championships don’t matter. My question to him... Then why even play the regular season games?
You can stop romanticizing the sport... College football has become nothing more than a vehicle to generate TV revenue. It’s sure not the game any of us grew up watching in the Seventies & Eighties.
My guess is the sport will evolve into a super conference with promotion and relegation. The season will be played out amongst some 20-25 teams. You win your conference, the next year you move into the super league. You finish in the bottom 5 or 10 of the super league, you go back to your conference the next season.

Last year it would have been Clemson and Georgia.
I thought it would have been Clemson vs Oklahoma...?

Do larger playoffs ruin 1-AA?
Yes. Good FCS teams like NDSU are practically guaranteed a spot before the season even starts.

Do they ruin high school playoffs?
Too many formats to really judge this. From my experience, there were far too many rematches. Also, high school shouldn't have the competition gaps that college sports do.

How about NFL playoffs?
Can't compare these two. NFL teams are on a level playing field. In college, certain teams have a tremendous advantage.

Do all the teams in March Madness ruin it?
Yes absolutely. When was the last time Duke-UNC was an actually meaningful game?

Under the current system that's pretty unlikely to happen. Alabama needed Ohio State to lay a massive egg at Iowa for this to happen.
Also, I don't like the 4 best teams system. I think they should pick four teams from the five power conference champions and potentially an undefeated G5 school. Independents should have to join a conference.
