1) Can dump even more money into Bama football- Which would be a better investment. Bama also is upgrading Baseball facilities
2) Can steer recruits considering UAB to Bama-
3) Can convert UAB fans to Bama fans - There are none to convert, plus Bama doesn't need more sidewalk fans
4) Claim Saban made another program quit- dumb

Lost in all of this is what's going to happen to the cheerleaders and dance squad?
The football players can go somewhere else and play. The band members can go do something else somewhere else, I guess.
I think tRant needs to hold a UAB cheerleader and dance squad draft to support these poor young ladies.
(The guy cheerleaders can go to TAMU.)

"Regardless, your argument illustrates the whole damn problem"
If that's true then why did UAB people have a problem with it being the University of Alabama School of Medicine? Birmingham and the state still receive all the same jobs, economic benefits , etc so that works both ways. I'd argue from the UA perspective that the beef we have is having our medical school's name and logo hijacked and replaced just because we were nice enough to place it on or near the UAB campus. It didn't cease being the UA School of Medicine anymore than any other company ceases to exist when it partners with another company. Birmingham and UAB'S undergrad and other graduate degree programs reap massive rewards for that partnership yet they want to hijack the name that gives them those rewards.

Gives who what rewards? It is a public university. It is owned by the citizens of Alabama. I fully understand that there have been conflicts within the UA system about who gets credit for the med school. I am saying that that, in and of itself, is the problem. The problem is that UAB is being run with an eye towards who gets credit. It should be being run to maximize the benefit to the state. That is its whole purpose of being. Here's the question: Would this decision have been made by a BOT acting only on behalf of UAB? Why would that have either made a difference or not?
