I'm a louisiana catholic right here
We drink, we gamble, we party, we don't condemn anyone to hell, we don't evangelize, and the only way we try to convert others is by giving them free food and maybe buying them a beer or six.

I meant Catholics as a whole in the U.S are Democrats, my apologies.
Totally disagree. I've dated, grew up and lived by Catholics my entire life. From New York, Arizona, California and Arkansas all Republicans.
Not to mention the Catholic church lost it over the birth issue Obama was cramming down there throat.

The French were Catholic, the Spanish that followed them were Catholic, the Irish, Germans, and Italians that followed them were Catholics. Even the Lebanese that came here were Catholics. South of BR, it's mostly catholic. In the north, it's mostly Baptist. Basically, any area with "cajun" or "creole" culture is catholic, fun, laid back, and has great food. Any area that's north of Alexandria or has mostly English place names is protestant, strict, has average food, and is pretty much just like the rest of the South.

The majority of Catholics I know are Democrat and the ones that are Republican are pretty moderate

Palooza11, if you lived in Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's District would you vote for her?

Very true!! We are more "chill". We don't trip out over nonsense

I don't know who that is or really care much. In fact, I will probably not vote anymore. Its not worth voting if you are not informed.

Jon Huntsman for President
If anyone seriously thinks Obama or Romney are quality leaders of this country then I weep for our future

That is likely a good thing. I hope more uninformed people follow your example.

actually SunHog, Palooza is right.
more Catholics tend to lean Democrat percentage wise.
Its something like just over 50% with those identifying as Dems with Repubs in the low 40s and the rest swinging in the middle. Regardless of the side we lean, we tend to be moderate overall.
and no, the birth control thing is not going to lose Obama all the Catholics just as Repubs killing social programs won't drive us back to him.

Yes, and all politicians are scumbags. They just care about getting reelected, and their parties. I just wish it wasn't a two party system in which people need to decide between two extremes. I dont know what i am, im just moderate. Yea what the hell was this thread about again?

Former Catholic here, agnostic now. Extended family is pretty conservative, but my immediate family are relatively liberal regarding social issues (gay brother probably has a lot to do with that).
Catholics are moderate, and pretty much mirror the status quo for the area. They're democrats in liberal states and republicans in red states.
ETA: States with high catholic populations tend to go blue
Rhode Island 59.5%
Massachusetts 42.0%
New York 37.1%
Connecticut 36.6%
Nevada 32.3%
Illinois 30.1%
Delaware 29.7%
California 28.6%
Wisconsin 29.5%
Pennsylvania 28.4%
Louisiana 27.7%
Texas 27.2%
Louisiana was the most Catholic state that McCain won.

You make me sad Palooza11.. You must be 18 still. Hope and change and some cool looking propaganda posters can do that to kids that have never paid bills, or had the government screw them over yet.
I am not defending the old healthcare system as it was obviously broken(cost/insurance), but making 83% of the current doctors consider quitting with your shitty idea you force fed us is not the answer.
