10-15 years ago, almost every girl playing college softball was butch unless you played for Arizona State. How has this changed to extremely talented hot girls? Watching FSU and Clemson, Tennessee’s pitcher, and a ton of girls from almost every school has a slew of attractive, thin, blondes or brunettes. I’m very happy, but it is interesting how it’s changed.

I think it's just exploded in popularity so much that it's no longer a thing just for butch girls and the stigma that surrounds that. Nothing wrong with a pretty girl that's into lifting weights, strength training, etc.

quite a bit of black girls playing now too. the sport is just gaining popularity, for whatever reason

Yes, took note here this season. I remember when Alabama had a refrigerator sized behemoth at 3B, 1B, and Pitcher. Just crazy how it has changed.

It's the most popular sport for young girls in warm weather states and it crosses all classes of people. It's "cool" to play softball as a young girl.

TV has helped and the college game is fast paced and 2 hours tops on TV.
It’s getting really competitive in club/travel and is a great sport for girls.
The big girls are still there but they can’t get by on being bigger and stronger than everyone else alone.

Big improvement to say the least. Now, can we figure out a way to quite the nonstop chanting, screeching and clapping from the dugouts. I swear I get the headache from 2 innings of the nonstop noise. I noticed in the super regionals it seems ESPN either relocated those dugout microphones, or lowered their volume a great deal.
